They are already attacking Abe Lincoln statues. What is happening makes me think of "1984" by George Orwell. Slowly eliminating the parts of history that people don't like until we are only left with a watered down acceptable version. Slowly eroding freedom of speech. Heck we all be speaking New Speak before long if we don't put our foot down.

I think these confederate memorials heavily depend on context, but there are definitely some that are more racist than remembering history.

A hypothetical statue built to commemorate Nathan Bedford Forest in the height of Jim Crow laws? Yeah I can see where that context is racist and should be removed or possibly destroyed due to its overtness.

A hypothetical memorial to a confederate unknown soldier just to commemorate the lives lost? Yeah not racist and that's about history.

Obviously those are both extremes, and most will be on a wide spectrum in between and in those cases it should be decided by how the local community feels.

Charlottesvilles city council decided to remove their statue from town owned property and people should respect local governments decision.

Trying to erase the vestiges of racism from the past is not smart. I can understand not wanting certain monuments displayed in certain spots. However, I have spoken with Vietnam War Vets that talk about racism that was alive and well in the military at that time too. Should we remove the VWM from the National Mall? Should we strike out the names of the racist offenders and pretend they never existed or gave their lives serving this country?

Additionally, people act like the only people that were racist in the Civil War fought for the Confederacy. Um... I'll call BS. There was just as much racism in the north and a lot of folks that wanted to end slavery in the south. The arbitrary line that has been drawn stating this side is for racism and that side is against racism is causing more harm than good.

Morgan Freeman hit the nail on the head in the below interview:

I have known some people who use the drug to help with anxiety and insomnia. So when they attempted to quit those symptoms became immeasurably worse. It's a shame we live in a system where people can't do one drug that is far less harmful to your body, but instead have to ingest prescriptions that destroy you from the inside out.

There are relatively safe prescription meds for anxiety and insomnia which can be accessed legally. And Idk that weed should be illegal but I definitely wouldn't classify smoking it as not harmful to the body.

I have finally put someone on ignore. I swore I wouldn't do it but it was in the PF and he postes something so stupid that my blood was boiling. He compared antifa to the US Soldiers during WWII who fought the Nazis. The poster in question was already extrmely trollish before hand and just crossed a line for me. Plus he is a Gator. With the above information, anyone who has been to the PF knows who he is.

I can only take it for short stints. Some of those people's brains just don't function as mine does. Not that I think I'm right all the time, just I can't comprehend some of their positions.

LG is the worst. Luther is giving him a run for his money. Armchair is just completely delusional. MT will occasionally make a redeeming post. I find Septic's trolling hilarious. He needs to spread it around more. He claims to be independent but only trolls conservatives.

Amy of you guys ever been through a depression? If so, how long were you in it and how did you finally come out of it?

Also, why do you guys think that in America, a place where we have so much compared to the rest of the world, that we are statistically more likely to suffer from depression than other parts of the world?

Because neither material gain, popularity , power or vice ever brings contentment. Those things seem to create a black hole in people's soul, and it's hungry mouth can never be filled.

And yes I have been through it, and all honor and glory to God for bringing me out. I am weak, but he is strong.
