I think the point was if you get it (and then spread it to other people unknowingly) then cases could go up. States are reopening based on the White House's guidelines, which relies on data. So it only causes a delayed reopening. It is counterproductive to what you and most of us want.
Is herd immunity not a thing anymore?

Its not about you, it's about elderly people who are out shopping, it's about people going out to help their families. Putting others at risk and bragging about it is the saddest kind of virtue signaling.

On a purely practical level, killing a bunch of old people to own the libs is going to slow reopening because hospitals are going to stay overwhelmed.
The vast majority of hospitals outside of one or two cities aren’t overwhelmed.

At risk people should stay home. This doesn’t mean the country should be mandatorily shut down

I don't need to wear a mask. If I get the virus, I will either have no symptoms, or it will be a mild bug that will pass in a matter of days. I'll go and shake hands with people who have corona. It isn't going to hurt me. As posted above, I have more of a chance of dying from being struck by lightning than dying from the coronavirus. If you're worried about getting it, wear a mask to protect yourself. But you're not going to make me do it.
The mask isn't to protect you it's to protect others in case you are an asymptomatic carrier. I don't understand why so many object to wearing a mask. Businesses absolutely have the right to require mask in their facilities. I wear a mask because I'm courteous to other people, not because I'm afraid that I'll get it. Seems like the right thing to do. Seems like the Christian thing to do. It would bother me if I knew I inadvertently infected someone and they got severely ill and/or died.

Those are the at risk people. They can wear a mask all they want to, and should.

Other than n95 masks, wearing a mask does not provide protection to the user, it provides it to those around them because the wearer does not spread the virus as easily.

The Philadelphia Public Health department put together this helpful infographic to explain the concept.

If businesses required it, I will wear it. It’s not as tho I’m saying I’ll never wear one period. But the people who are at risk should be wearing a mask, not everyone. It would be better for us if people like me did get it. We want herd immunity, no?

This makes no sense. Why would a mask protect others from me, but not me from others? That doesn’t make sense at all

Despite the entire World telling you that you can give to other people, who are at risk?

Case in point that our leadership right now is a bleeping joke.

So just for reference, what is the mortality threshold where it moves from "completely reasonable to not wear a mask" to "only the domain of sociopaths"?

SIAP...I laffed.

Lol I love that video. It’s funny because it’s true. It’s happening in this thread.

Who knows when that will be. I am wanting to reopen sooner than later. So I think it is best to act in ways conducive to it.
Seems to me that if we put off this thing running it’s course and developing herd immunity to a mild virus, that opening up completely is prolonged. We can’t lock down until we have a vaccine

Lol is that for real? Only in Philly...I've made various friends here from that place and they are some goofy funny people.
