Banks had 14 tackles against the number 18 team in Country. But, ok. A freshman ...
Beasley had 14 tackles against Kentucky and I hope we all can agree he was garbage… he got dragged 3 yards minimum on every single “tackle”

Edit: I think Banks is solid btw just think tackles aren’t necessarily the best stat to prove that

When teams are running 85+ plays, we are going to have players with "lots" of tackles. That still doesn't make him a good player. Banks is ok and that is about his limit. Too many missed tackles, not great at fighting off blocks, and he has trouble in pass protection. This is not a knock on him but the reality we face with such limited players on the team. I do agree that if we have to rely on freshman next year, it could be long year unless they are a complete stud.
Go Vols!!
So, now we are criticizing our linebackers for making too many tackles? Makes sense.

Man, I played baseball bru...30 years ago...I'm no expert nor do I pretend to be on da foosball. I just know that if I had a choice between Beasley *** and Banks ***, & Tootoot ****|***** & Quadarious Crouch **** (intended mis spelling to denote disrespect) I'd take the team guys all day long.

We have exceeded expectations. These guys play hard for 90 + plays a game. Honestly I dont care they're not the best. I'm just happy they want to be here and we are gonna win 7 games. 'Rag tag band'.

Not sure what ruffled your feathers with the "princess" comment, but I was simply stating something most fans see. At no point was I criticizing your statement but I apparently touched a nerve. Going forward, if I comment on any of your post, I will do so with more gently so not to offend you.
Call him a communist.

too many haters here today,

again.

some of y'all deserve much worse than what your favorite team is producing.

haters gonna hate. smh

Im not a coach but rewatching games this year this is what I've noticed. Banks has 89 Tackles, 4.5 sacks, 9TFLs, 1 Int, 1PBR, 2QBH... he's been pretty dang good. Problem is he's getting targeted by Lineman because he has zero help from Beasley. Its not exactly hard to see that teams are running at Beasley and away from Banks so the fact he's still racking up tackles means he's doing about all he can. He needs help.
Edit: I did some digging and AJ Johnson had 101 tackles, 9 tfls, 2 sacks, 2 FF, 1 int in 2014. I would say Banks is doing just fine.

Maybe. But I would be surprised if he started at anymore than those 3. He isn’t what many would consider a good LB.

Ok, so you admit your statement about him “not starting for 90-95%”of SEC teams is wrong? He’s the best Tennessee has and has played pretty well considering this is his first year with decent on-field coaching.

Banks is putting up a lot of tackles but he is a liability in coverage and he stays blocked way to long. We have two players that should be backups starting at linebacker. Not to mention Banks is a personal foul waiting to happen. I do think he has improved a lot from last year though.

Not sure where you got that from but I did not criticize anyone for "making too many tackles". I was stating that with opposing teams running so many plays, we are going to have several players with "double digit" tackles. It doesn't make him a good player just because he had 14 tackles. He has a lot of heart and passion, and for that I am thankful, but we can definitely upgrade at that position in the portal. That is what I was stating and you misinterpreted it into something else.

Banks is our best linebacker….. one of our best defensive players and we are extremely lucky to have him.
Yes, he is...and, yes, we are, I agree; still doesn't change the fact he's about 5 to 6 levels below where we want to go...we saw last night where we want to go.

The good things that Banks does, are greatly shadowed by his weaknesses, imo.

With that said, I'm grateful to have him; and even more, glad to see he's grown up a bit, staying out of trouble. Proud of him for that.
