Recruiting Forum: Official Alabama Pre-Game/Game Thread

Hey. No one cares how old you are.

I'm far from being ashamed. I think they're on the right track. I just see the pieces of the puzzle a little different than you. I think we need a couple of more top 10 classes and I'm not happy with 3 or 4 of our coaches.

No, not CBJ. I'm not convinced that 2-3 coaches need to be replaced. And, I think we need some more Jimmys and Joes. I think your time line is a little further along than mine. Which surprises me because you're an old moran like myself.

I said one coach. I've not said anything in an attempt to get a rise out of anyone, I simply stated an opinion. I get that you don't agree with it but just because you played doesn't give you the right to disrespect other Vol fans. I've given you my reasons as to my opinion and asked you where I was wrong and you've offered nothing. This is a place to discuss the Vols both opinions that you agree with and some you don't.

There is one thing I can guarantee is I've been a Vol fan since before you were even a thought on your mom and dad's mind. I am disappointed that you wouldn't give me your opinion other than "You're a douche that throws sh!t against the wall to see if you can get rise out of people". Out of respect for you, I'm done with this exchange.

Go Vols!

I specifically remember seeing a number and it wasn't one. I know you said 3, you may have said 3-4 coaches. I'm not going back to look though, because it isn't worth the effort.

Edit: Not sure how that came up looking like I was responding to Jason3713, I'll assume everyone knows who it was meant for though.

You've said in several posts we are short on players and several coaches. We might be short on experience but the coaches have brought in some great players.

I'm just tired of players and coaches who are giving it their all bashed over and over.

If the team was quitting like they did with Dooley I'd be behind you 100% but there is no quit in this team. All this bunch needs is more experience and I think we will have something.

People are so quick to blame a coach or blame the players. Football is a game of momentum and breaks. Most of the time the best team wins but sometimes the underdog can sneak up on someone.
this team is staying in games on pure determination and will.

With all the injuries and key players this team has lost this game could have easily been a blow out. It wasn't because this team came to play and had a will to win. Just didn't happen in the end.

I do think we need a couple of coaches. I'm not a fan of Debord. We can disagree on that.

I'm not trashing the players we have, we need more of them we need to be starting juniors and seniors instead of freshmen and sophomores. CBJ has had two great classes, Alabama has had 8 top 5 in a row and a few number 1s. All I've said is the rebuild is still ongoing. Two top 5 classes doesn't get you there.

It started because I said Debord. That's what started it. That's what I was referring too.

As to the three or four, most have been discussed here ad nauseum.

Debord
Azanni
Mahoney
Martinez

We have played a couple of the best defenses in the SEC in Bama and FL.

We are towards the top of the SEC in rushing and our stats are only going to get better from here on in. I know Mizzu and Vandys Ds have been pretty good but they don't match up to the others we've played.

We start out with such a front loaded schedule. It's not good for such a young team but it is what it is. Let's see what we can do the rest of the way in before we fire anyone can we agree on that?

I can agree 100%. My confidence in Coach Debord just isn't very high.

You remind me of the little dog on the kibbles and bits commercial really not big enough to stand up on your own. Have to have someone to do your fighting for you. Keep trying, you'll be a big boy one day.

Nope, nobody is posting for me. Just me and my opinion of you based on your posts. You don't have to get your panties all bunched about it. It's just the internet sweetheart.

Two hour nap done, and I gotta run off to church, but here are my thoughts.

1. Ain't even mad: Always disappointing to lose, but the team is improving, coaching decisions look better, and if you match rosters, player for player, Bama is better and more experienced, and we just about took their milk money. Well played, Vols. We're comin'...

2. Justin Martin: Lacks experience, but good grief, the talent is there. On the Bama drive to win, he was in position to INT or bat the ball down, and the worst, and got tripped up as the ball came in. Wow! That close...

3. Cory Vereen:
Best game ever for him. Awesome game. Keep that junk up.

4. Pass Rush: Jancek did an awesome job with the blitz today. Bama's OL had their handful all night, though I am not sure a single holding penalty was called. How many sacks? 6? Gotta make those 15 yard sacks and not 1 yard, after Coker escaped, but dang fine job.

5. Experience: The OL did a fine job tonight, but in the end, the experience of the Bama DL, when they needed it, came through. Big elephants plowing through our OL at the end of the game, but wait till our boys get a little salt. True freshies, we've got out there. They'll get it.

6. Medley: All we needed was a par, 2/3. We got 0, and they weren't even close. No kicker is perfect, but 3 games have been lost (in part, never in full) to missed kicks. OK, FL, Bama all would have been ended with an extra 3... or two.

7. Kamara: I loved seeing him getting involved more in the game. Would have liked a bit more, but good game on limited touches.

8. Pearson:
Two targets on the first drive, then none for the rest of the game, IIRC. Get the man a few more touches please.

Great game coaches and players. We will be winning these games in the future. Undefeated the rest of the way should absolutely be the expectation for this team. :hi: Would be a solid year

You can't even come up with your own insult, have to piggyback off others, Cutiepie. 😘

Good summary Nick. Can't help to look back and think what if. Trying not to.

I know this is cold comfort indeed, but just think about how much different dealing with losses now is than it was even two years ago. It hurts more now because these are in reach -- we're not numb to losing any more.

This is improvement. It's slow, painful, maddening improvement. And I'm not trying to say it's a moral victory. But hell, we haven't even had MORAL victories here recently.

The Vols are getting better. They're better than their record shows and that really sucks because we've let too many get away from us. But they're growing up before our eyes. This is a good football team that has screwed up in some agonizing ways.

But it's coming. The game will start breaking our way. It's only a matter of time. Yeah, we've waited a long time -- but I can't remember the last time I was this optimistic about our future. We just went on the road against a top 10 team that has beaten us by double digits in five straight games and we took them to the wire. It's not a win, but surely it counts for something.

All I'm saying is this is a different bunch of Vols we're seeing than we've seen in a long time on Rocky Top.

Yep, the losses are gut punches but this team doesn't fear anyone. The younguns just have to grow up and get some more to back them up. Very anxious to see them finish the season strong and get a bowl in a warm locale.

If all you can do is insult people instead of coming up with a sensible debate maybe you should look at continuing your education.

I might just do that. In the meantime you should consider how you insult our intelligence by suggesting highly paid and well qualified coaches should depart from a lifetime of professional experience and do what InVOLuntary on volnation thinks is best.
