Recruiting Forum: Official Alabama Pre-Game/Game Thread

A lot of internet cliche trash talk without substance on here tonight. For the sake of continuing it - what happens if our guys lose another game or two and the old "8-4 was what I and the analysts predicted" flys out the window?

InVOL is very much correct in my book. Happy, happy, happy for a close loss to Bama is not something to hang your hat on when just a modicum of creativity in the passing game beyond the normal stuff opens the whole offense up. It was a trap game for them and our players had two weeks to get healthier and the coaches 2 weeks to prepare, yet they still lost. Debord is a weak link as are Mahoney and Z. I am fine with the D coaches. Martinez is a proven secondary coach that is working with less than a full deck in terms of experience at CB and nickel, with less talent at safety in his starters when TKJr is not in there.

Some of you need to track the O play caliing. Watch the replay. Ask yourselves why more non-play action pass plays were not called between the hashmarks since the ones that were called were successful when Dobbs was not being rushed heavily. That should tell an OC to call quicker passes on slants and seam routes to the slot and TE. But it didn't ours. He kept calling play action and roll outs. Why don't Smith, Malone and Pearson get 20 balls a game thrown their way? They are open much of the time. How about Wolf - open very frequently in every game this season? How many balls did he get thrown his way today?

What other head coach in America would keep sending a kicker out there to miss FG's that strongly contribute to losses 7 games into the season without at least trying a back-up one time? Ridiculous.

I might just do that. In the meantime you should consider how you insult our intelligence by suggesting highly paid and well qualified coaches should depart from a lifetime of professional experience and do what InVOLuntary on volnation thinks is best.

You have to have intelligence before it can be insulted. It's called an opinion dude. I don't give a rats ass whether you agree with it. Your's is no more valid than mine. Like I said, instead of offer a retort, you resort to insults, not even your own, you have to borrow someone else's. That tells me all I need to know about your intellect.

I'm bowing out, my mother always taught me not to make fun of the short bussers.

You reckon we made some good impressions on recruits today eazy?

I was mad as **** earlier but I think everyone can see the progress that UT has made.

Maybe the people saying we weren't serious contenders until 2016 were right back in the preseason

My mother told me the first one to quit is always the biggest loser.

Tennessee just might be a monster next year. Florida and Alabama at home...who knows. Damn what could've been this year

I've stated very reasons for my position, you not so much. I can guarantee you I've forgotten more about football than you've ever known.[/QUOTE

See my profile pic??? That's me in the orange jersey with Tennessee across the chest against Kentucky in 89. How many games have you played in Neyland? I'll hang up and listen.

You were a pretty good DB were you not?

You know, I'm not even upset about the game. There were a few times in the game I asked why but no coach/OC is going to hit 100%. The guys exceeded my expectations. The biggest problem I had was at the end of the game you drop Dobbs straight back and let the strength of the Bama defense, the line, Tee off on him. Bama was only rushing 4 so you could Sprint him out as they did earlier in the game. This would make the defense come up and possibly open up a throwing lane. If not he can throw it away or possibly run out of bounds to stop the clock.

I said one coach. I've not said anything in an attempt to get a rise out of anyone, I simply stated an opinion. I get that you don't agree with it but just because you played doesn't give you the right to disrespect other Vol fans. I've given you my reasons as to my opinion and asked you where I was wrong and you've offered nothing. This is a place to discuss the Vols both opinions that you agree with and some you don't.

There is one thing I can guarantee is I've been a Vol fan since before you were even a thought on your mom and dad's mind. I am disappointed that you wouldn't give me your opinion other than "You're a douche that throws sh!t against the wall to see if you can get rise out of people". Out of respect for you, I'm done with this exchange.

Go Vols!

Okay......we have 2 VFL's here so let's just know we all want the same thing and that is to see UT win. Invol is a great VFL who helped Rich Rollin alot and that means something. Jason appears to be VFL who I agree with as far as the team and upward progression. But, I am sure you guys both want the same thing and it would be good just to disagree on the point and move on. We have some good days ahead. GBO

We've made our peace. ( I hope lol). I think other than the coach thing, he misinterpreted my post.

I'm not sure how I feel about Martinez. I don't know if it's him, talent, or scheme. I mean if you look at how Bama defended us they had our receivers bracketed whereas we put our guys on an island.

Had to do so to stop Henry. Martin and Cam did well. Overall, the D was a great plan for this game IMO

Defense held Bama to lowest total all year, and by a lot. Cam amd Martin needed to make a play on a 50/50 ball, but hard to criticize them or the D at all. Offense has to do better than 14.

We weren't on the Randolph pick. We had to put some guys in the box to stop the run.

I wasn't sure on that one. I think it was man with help over the top. He had to come from a long way it seemed. Announcer eluded to Randolph baiting him. Regardless it was a great break on the ball and interception. I don't think we got points off it if I remember correctly. Was that a missed FG?

I don't recall. But if the corner was in man, then it was terrible defense. The guy was open until Randolph came over. Coker is supposed to try to keep the safety away by a fake or by eyes but he gave it away.

It was cover two disguised as man free pre-snap.
That's great scouting. Call your defense and you get that certain formation in down and distance and you take your shot and just hope your guys make the play
Great call!

There is still no convincing me otherwise that Evan Berry shouldn't be getting involved some kind of way on offense.

That man needs touches

I was just talking to my cousin about the game. Martin would've gotten that pass he had he not tripped. Sutton had no chance with how that pass was thrown. When Ridley turned his head around he immediately jumped. In press man you are trying to get your head around when the WR looks back. That's why he was trying to make a play on the man instead of the ball. Coker throws the fade better than any other pass that he throws.
