'24 Recruiting Forum: Official Arkansas Pregame/Game Thread

I know we’ve had our insiders in here talk about how Elarbee can’t recruit OL. WR apparently suck for 2 straight seasons. At some point, all this issues point to the offensive staff. The fact that Heupel can’t get the damn offense working well, is alarming. How bad will we be when Banks leaves for a HC job this offseason??
Obvious change since '22 is Golesh being gone. Don't think we have adequately appreciated his loss.

It wasn’t just them. Too many of our fans acted like this game was going to be a breeze. Fans don’t impact the game obviously, but our fanbase has been sniffing its own farts for a month because we beat up on some of the worst teams in the NCAA and they think we’re 2021 Georgia now.

Looks like we still haven’t played anybody honestly
Except me last Saturday. But as usual was just taken as doom and gloom

Y’all are over thinking this dumb Golesh ****. It’s not Golesh. It’s hooker and Hyatt being gone. It’s Wright being gone. Use your brain for 2 seconds. We had a solid oline and full trust in a QB. We don’t have that right now.

It’s kind of crazy that people can’t just accept that it was Hooker who was the once in a generation talent. Star rankings are great, but evaluators miss. He was awesome.

Heupel's teams always seem to lose at least one that they should not every season.

Was just thinking about the difficulty in running 2 minute hurry up offense with those super wide WR splits bc you can only run sideline routes from the inside WRs and communicating in hurry up all the way out past the numbers is a chore.

We will probably lose to Kentucky. The season is quite honestly over. We won’t make the playoff. Let’s be honest we aren’t beating Bama or UGA. Our offense is abysmal if guys aren’t running free wide open. Tonight was absolutely pathetic. Nico is not as billed. Heupel has slouches big time in the passing game.

So did Fulmer. Either that or the annual Florida loss is why he had only one title. It’s not the worst spot to be in, and I’ll take it if that’s all it is.

It’s better than the annual 5-7 seasons I lived through most of my life with.

Yup. That simple really. But Nico can still be awesome as well. It’s quite sad to see people give up on a freshman in start number 5 when his oline and WRs played like hot trash at times.

He was awesome. Very underappreciated.

This system is proving not to be "QB friendly" IMO. I've watched back to back QBs struggle terribly.

Interesting that you admonish others to use their brain while implying the OC has no impact on the quality/play/development of the offensive players. You going for a Darwin award?

We would’ve beaten bama last season if we had a coach with balls. Congrats to him on throwing less than 2 TDs per game as a QB in the SEC.

What are your standards for a good QB? Do you not also take into account what they can do with their legs?

Who do you think are the good QBs?

My biggest concern, and my biggest point of confusion, is I cannot for the life of me understand why we stopped using tempo. It’s been our identity for 3 years under Heupel, and he started to shift away from it some last year.

I thought it was just because of Milton, but that’s clearly not the case. I’m not sure Heupel’s offense works if we don’t commit to his style. We can’t half-ass it. Heupel may think in his head he doesn’t trust Nico or the OL, but so what? Just run your freaking offense.

It was crippling in the 4th quarter where we had a drive going but instead of going fast we slowed it down, got 2 false starts, and gave Arkansas time to get their defense set and stop us.

Stop doing this ******** and go back to operating under what found you success.
And tempo seems to work this season when we do it. It's baffling to me. That and the drastically different play calling.

You don’t get to take credit for this. You’re doom and gloom about literally everything and you know it. You say as much.
Fair enough but that assessment stems from my time as a Tennessee fan being from 2002 at 6 years old to now.

The doom and gloom that has given me is almost always valid. Baseball is the only team that I don’t think will **** it up in the end, and I’m generally more well liked over there for it.

But football and basketball tend to prove me right more often than not unfortunately.

He’s a supposed can’t miss 5* who we went and are paying 2mm a year. That (fair or not) will come with significant expectations.

His OL hasn’t played that well but there are plenty of times where he’s given a clean pocket and can’t do anything with it.

He didn’t have a good game at all here or at OU. He has talent and tools to be good but right now he’s Milton-esque

We should just accept that we’re a baseball school now and our lives will be better for it. Put the BaseVols in Neyland and relegate the football team to a parking lot somewhere till the prove they deserve it.

We will both be dinged as Negas, but you're right. We will finish 8-4.

Milroe is Bo Nix with a worse arm for short/mid range throws and better athleticism. If he didn’t play for Bama, he’d be an electric watch on a 10 in G5 team. He won’t win a title at the college level and has less a chance to be a productive NFL QB than Nix. I guess he’s a “good” college QB in the same way that anyone else who fits that same vein is.

I do think we should lean into it more than we already do. Baseball could have a Dudy Noble sized stadium and fill it at this point. And they win. So why not?
