It’s a strategy a lot coaches who don’t have a top 15 team right now will use, though. And if you hit on your portal guys and outperform expectations then more talented recruits will take notice.

Quickest way to flip a roster.
And those recruits will still take 2-3 years to develop before theyre ready

Will kill in the long run. Building through the portal is ignorant

Rather take 4 & 5 stars in the portal than 3 star HS & JuCo kids that probably aren’t good enough to be in the SEC anyway though.

Now, if we can flip or land 4 & 5 star HS kids then of course that’s the preference but with all these other schools ahead of us it’s hard to close the gap this quickly.

So you continue to supplement with the portal. Transfers are gonna be a huge part of everyone’s strategy moving forward. Hell Oklahoma took 8 this past off season from the portal. And they’re a perennial top 5 team.

We also lost a ton to the portal. Have to replace that as soon as possible or we’ll continue to have zero depth. Transfers are the best option.

And eventually your roster gets screwed because you are too top heavy and have no in between.

I wouldnt, theres a reason a lot of kids who end up in the portal arent playing at the schools theyre at.

You can still supplement with guys like Hadden, Turnage and Mohan that have multiple years. We need to mix those type of guys with 1 or 2 year guys that give you that immediate impact. Honestly I don't understand why those 3 aren't playing more

Turnage might be ok, idk weve only seen him in one game so its hard to say, but exactly. The other 2 cant even see the field at some of our weakest spots. That should tell you something about their talent.

They need to move Theo to safety and take either McCullough or flowers off...both are bad. Plug Turnage at Nickle or put him outside. Hadden needs more reps. I think Mohan just needs to get bigger. You still need these types of guys though. Gotta nail some instant impact guys though. Have to keep it competitive to attract the talent

Henson Hooker, Javonta Payton, Velus Jones, Cade Mays, Caleb, Turnage, Hadden, McGrath, all portal guys all playing quality minutes for us.

There’s only so many HS kids in a class Butch & Pruitt both failed ultimately thinking chasing stars with HS kids that they couldn’t develop.

Don’t care where the players come from as long as they can play ball & staff can develop them. Stoops has been building his model at UK for a damn decade and still has rarely finished with a better recruiting class than we have, regardless of coach.
