'24 Recruiting Forum: Official Georgia Pregame/Game Thread

So wait.... You're actually saying undefeated BYU should be ranked below 2 loss Tennessee?
I’m saying if they lose tonight they absolutely should be, but probably won’t. The fact that Indiana jumped us told me all I needed to know about how the committee viewed us.

little things cost us game.
#6 missing an easy block on the punter on Boo carters long return cost us a touchdown.

Donte dropping a wide open 20+ yard sideline throw…

“Facemask penalty”

“Illegal substitution”

“False start”

“beck’s non false start call”
(I’ve never been a it’s the refs guy, but man we get short end of stick every game)

Then Add our Linebackers getting destroyed by what have been below average tight ends…

Great assessment

When did I say I don’t see guys wide open? Because I never said that.

Scheme is fair but if your players aren’t running it effectively for 2 years in a row then to me it falls back on the HC. There is more to being a guru than scheme.
Would any top half sec team trade for any of our OL except Mays? No guru has ever looked like a guru with a below average OL. Banks looks better than he is because of the DL (usually) and Heupel looks worse than he is because of the OL. Same for every play caller in the country.

Seriously, it can’t just be bad luck at this point. What in the holy **** is with QB’s crapping the bed all year then playing like a heisman contender against us? I thought for sure Beck would be good for at least one pick or boneheaded decision tonight.
That always happens with us and Georgia. They could barely beat Florida with both their quarterbacks in body casts.

This scheme is too basic to beat Elite teams. Kirby has this offense figured out to a T.
Scored 52 on a Saban defense. We scored 17 in the first half tonight and went on a 15 play drive. Just have to score. We’ve rushed for 2,000 yards in 4 straight years. It’s really not. He has really good players. When the OL gives the QB time, plays are there to be made.

That Saban defense was slaw.

We don't play well on the road....... Been an issue this year.

Let's take a step back and look at the season, where it broke for us and where it went wrong. Then look to the future.

Defense will likely take a step back, DB"s and linebacker will be better. D Line, particularly interior will likely be worse.

Offense may be better, established QB, hopefully some upgrades on o line. Running back may be better even without Sampson. WR's not sure. TE is promising.

What we need is the offense to take a step up, the defense just needs to be respectable.

The sky isn't falling

You’re spot on, at least for offense. We moved the ball all game, just couldn’t sustain drives. But the narrative will be “My god, Georgia just completely dominates and crushes Tennessee again! We’ve never seen a bigger beatdown!”

Those 52 points were Golesh and his creativity.

If Heupel doesn’t replace Hazle then 10-2 is going to be our absolute ceiling moving forward.

Unless the coach goes and throws the ball for the QB. An elite offensive play caller schemes players open. It’s up to the players to execute. Must be discussing different things then.

So you think that Alabama should fire their coach? Ole Miss lost to Kentucky- should they fire Lane?
Alabama coach is in year 1. Not 4 . Talent yes but always adjustments to be made in coaching changes so some forgiveness there.

Kentucky ain’t Vandy, so the comparison is
Invalid and they aren’t a far inferior in state school .

2018 WRs:
Jauan Jennings (49ers)
Marquez Calloway (Saints/Bucs)
Josh Palmer (Chargers)
Ooook?

Bru, Squirrel, Donte through 10 games = 1166 receiving yards
Those 3 through 10 games = 1199

I know it’s simple to just put those 3 and be like “NFL tEaM pLaYeRs” I don’t care…I go by stats.

Again, this offense is suppose to be leagues better and yet he has similar stats to JGs first season

Yall remember that Danny White Guy?
He’s been pretty damn good at hiring coaches.
He hired Huep when you couldn’t get a half way proven winner to even consider this dumpster fire job.
I’d suspect it would be a lot different now.

Yall do you realize I based that on him losing to Vandy which I don’t expect to happen.

And you realize you are 100% backing a guy that hypothetically loses to a mediocre Vandy.
That’s Butch Jones, Pruitt territory but with a much more talent to work with!

I think you’re the one that needs to sober up
Hiring coaches is a crap shoot, amplified even more by the NIL era. He hired Heupel because he was familiar with him....... You know who he was after before he pivoted to Heupel? The guy that's likely about to be on the hot seat for not getting it done in a conference that's less competitive than this one.

My original request of you stands. Firing Heupel would be a huge mistake.

They're undefeated.... In a power 4 conference. You can't really be suggesting they shouldn't be in the top 12?
Lol. right - same for both BYU and Indiana

BYU at least beat a couple teams currently in the top 25

Indiana's schedule is horrendous. although they've put up 80 points a game. yes they almost lost to a turrrible meatchicken (CFP chairman bias inflated the difficulty for that one big big big)

Yeah... We took momentum from ourselves in the second qtr. Too many mistakes. Can't do that inn games like this.

I can deal with getting beat by better teams. And that's not too say UGA isn't. But we gave that game back to UGA in the second qtr, more than they took it, imo.

I don't know that Thornton catching that ball leads to anything... But I do know, after that drop.. And false start on the next play, they went on 24-7 run. Who knows what happens if we keep the ball on that possession....

Ugh... We ran out of answers after that.

Most likely. I don’t disagree with that, I just think guru requires a lot more than scheme.

They were literally getting pressure rushing 3 while we kept an RB back to help with the pass rush. What scheme exists that can deal with that level of OL play?
So, why dont we do basic things like pass routes for running backs, and screens. Also its short middle or deep outside. The pass route tree isnt very creative.

#6 whiffing his block on the punter on the Boo return.

No, But when the Guru is the HC and responsible for the below avg OL he is first in line to blame for the poor OL.
