I don't see how that means there's a serious problem. If he doesn't try there's a serious problem, but he can't force a coach to go where he doesn't want to go. Taking off the orange-colored glasses, there are plenty of reasons a top coach wouldn't come here given the alternatives.

Tennessee considering all our recourses that could be utilized... should be able to conveince Mullen/ Outbid MSU or out bid Nebraska for Frost. If both turn us down that tells me we’re not putting all our chips on the table.

I can't believe Currie truly believes Butch can survive this, regardless of what he's reportedly said. Many think Currie is a sharp operator which tells me he's got a plan and it's underway. I think he has his man and is just waiting on an opportune time to pull the trigger.

Boils down to $ and timing. We're already paying for butch, our season is trashed, and potential coaches are currently coaching their teams. Take Gruden and Kelly off the adult table and it all adds up.

I hope you're right, about the first part

I’m hoping aTm beats Mississippi State tonight. Keep sumlin there and maybe help Mullen to want to leave. He’s got to know he’s hit his ceiling at MSU.

He’s had 3 opportune times to pull the trigger...we’re still waiting.

The decision to fire now versus at the end of the season has no affect on the money. If he's fired today we owe him the same $. Just because other coaches are still coaching doesn't mean contact hasn't been made. No coaches are off the table for the UT perspective. Some coaches will say NO without further discussions. Some coaches will entertain discussions but will say NO. Some coaches will contact the UT AD expressing interest. To think that there hasn't been exploratory talks with perspective coaches is naive IMO. And, if Currie's not been a ahead of this then if he's making above $50K he's being over paid imo.

If away games are what’s the reason for inaction then the entire AD needs to be fired.

Why? What if there were internal reasons to keep butch a little longer? What if there were not any good solutions as to who would lead the Vols in the interim?

I think it could part of it, but I think it's more about if an interim could hold it together better than Butch. The speculation is that the AD has debated whether or not they have a better chance at winning with Butch or an interim.

I am confident they’ve already made up their mind to fire him. Not that they have a choice. But for whatever reason they’ve decided that him coaching as long as possible is what is best. There’s undoubtedly more that goes into these decisions than we know and we don’t have all the info.

It would be an ugly scene at Neyland today with him coaching. I honestly think our chances on the road are better. If he loses today I think they will almost surely fire him. Can’t imagine him coaching at home at 3-5 next week.

Biutch can't scheme to score a TD. Interim probably could

Never said there werent talks. Nothing will be public until the end or near the end of the season with prospective coaches. What you want has no bearing on what the UTAD does. Putting a coaching search out for the public has no upside unless its Gruden or Kelly and most of us realistic people know its neither.

I think he's gone Sunday or Monday regardless of what happens tonight. I can't see any way they allow him to coach homecoming. It would be a disaster.

It's not a hard deal to make. Gruden either wants to coach CFB or he doesn't. If he does, UT will make the money happen. If he doesn't, get in front on the next guy.

Same with Butch. Not a hard decision. It's not about bowl game monies or a mitigation clause-- it's about making the not-so-tough call to fire someone who continually blows opportunities to win. He's not quitting. So stop wasting time and fire him.

Make the decision. Make the deal. And let's start digging out of this pit.

You thinking Frost/Mullen will be the next target if Gruden is a no? I assume he is. Talking about among realistic candidates.

Where did I post what I wanted? If i posted what I wanted Butch would have been gone ast year when he tried desperately to find another job.

I’m convinced beyond any doubt an interim could do better. It would take the media spotlight off the program and allow the players to just focus on football and fun. No ounce of doubt in my mind.

We’ve seen that happen time and again in recent years (Miami and LSU, to name a few).
