I posted this a few weeks ago but inthink it bears repeating....

I was told that certain people over there at UT had come to the conclusion that there was no way that they could compete with Bama and thus they weren't going to try. They were just biding their time until Saban moved on. At the time I laughed it off but I have often thought if that might actually be the case.

If this is true (and you know I’m not questioning you), has the TN brass found out from somewhere that this is Saban’s last year, and is why we are now willing to pay huge money for someone like Gruden? Would make some sense with how lackluster their recruiting class is at this point. Something to think about.

I think with what they have seen on the field that has changed. No way they will be able to do the things they want to do if they put a crap show like this on the field. They are seeing it will not be supported even by the guys with the deepest pockets.

This is my guess but the boosters, minus Big Jim, are tired of this and are not going to stand for it any longer. I think the move to get a well established, high profile head coach is being pushed by the boosters. JMO.

And we know of at least 2 that are pushing it

Does he not get credit for actually recruiting Winston to FSU? He went to into Alabama's back yard and got him to come play for him. He should also get credit for coaching up a redshirt freshman enough to win a national title.

Sure. Chizik gets credit for Cam also. Jimbo isn’t good but not elite.

What is Jim's deal? How could the old man not be tired of this crap? It's mind boggling. It's almost like it's what he wants or something.

Yea, if you are basing it off this year. You can't just go by where they are now. You have to go by what're the end up.

NW, Illinois, and Indiana are not good.

So what do we do in the meantime? Just not compare teams to other teams until the season is complete?

That doesn’t sound very fun

Saban could be around another 6 or 7 years though. That program is built to last for the foreseeable future even after he retires. Swinney will likely be their next coach as well. He won't keep it at the Saban level, but they'll still be a juggernaut with him IMO. Hoping that's not the mindset of some of our higher ups. Loser mentality IMO.

I think they'd be fine with winning the east and getting beat by Bama twice a year and going to a NY6 bowl. I think it's gotten so bad that they realize that strategy might not be working.

Well Ohio State , penn state , Wisconsin, and Michigan could all play with anyone in the nation.

Pac12- has the best QBs In the country. Washington, wsu, usc are all talented with good QBs. Washington lost their whole secondary in the first 3 rounds of the nfl draft last year.

Big 12 With TCU (‘may get in playoff), osu, Oklahoma, wvu, and Texas keeps getting better.

Wisconsin is a joke and is similar Michigan State from a few years back except they play an even worse schedule. Have you watched Michigan play this year?

PAC 12 sucks.

Big 12 I forgot about TCU but they’re not winning anything and Oklahoma is suspect after that thrashing of Ohio State.

As people get older their since of value drops. My grandad when he was in his late 80's would leave a quarter or two for a tip. He would walk around with $100 bills in his pocket. I think his mindset is "We spend enough to have a good team". That's all 100% conjecture on my part.

This literally makes no sense. Outside of recruiting the same players occasionally and obviously the game TSIO.. bama has no impact on us. So what if we lose to bama the next 10 years we could have a lot of 11-1 seasons which lead to other things.

I stopped reading at Wisconsin is a joke. You really need to watch other teams play and also keep up with the players they put in the nfl.
