On the punt that was downed on the one... the UGA player clearly taps a foot in the endzone. Is this not a touchback?

I don't think so. I think it's where the ball is not the player. Just like if the ball crosses the plane and is batted back into the field it's still a touch back.

Said it when it happened.

Gurley didn't break the goal line either.

Say they are forced to kick a FG there...

This game shows just how important winning first down is to our offense. When we get positive yards and get in a rhythm our young players can just play and stop thinking so much.

In addition to that, it makes bajakian just call a play and stop thinking so much. While disappointed I think he needs the rest of the season. It seems like when we get in long situations he tries to outthink the defense and tries too hard to win the chess match so to speak. It seems like he scripts plays really well and can call good plays, he just gets too cute when he has time

If playcalling was dictated by defensive alignment, why are we running into 8 man boxes and using pass protection assignments that let blitzers come completely free while we are trying to run a long developing pass play?

Maybe because the thought is that an OL will eventually win a 1 on 1 at the LOS or the RB will make someone miss.... Or, maybe the CB's are sitting on everything short and taking away the QB's first window causing the play to take longer to develop. Eventually somebody has to make a play and there were times that guys did.

Patience...

After a 3 point loss to UGA last year, we came out and best USCe at home.

After a 3 point loss to UGA this year, I believe we come out a beat UF at home.

Do you give Bajakian credit for the 32 pts TN put up today?

Have you ever thought that play calling is dictated by Def alignment and the players aren't consistent enough yet to win 1 on 1 regularly?

Okay..32 points..was it enough to win? No.

Marquez North had 3 catches..3!!! Why is he not getting the ball more in space?

We had three possessions starting the second half all from midfield..ZERO points out of it. At that point the defense was playing it's ass off and he decides we don't need to take a shot and be content with running the ball every down like we were up 3 scores or something.

Why would we get under center on our own goal line and try to run the ball? When we never go under center. Ever. As soon as we did that the defense knew it wouldnbe a run.

I have never played football, but I see simple misses and whiffs by our OL. Has nothing to do with play calling. They just have to get better.

For all the talk Butch gives about special teams, our kicking teams are a joke. Every single aspect. Medley played a good game today so props to him. But our kick coverage is a joke. Allowing them to down the ball at the 1 cost us the game. Whoever wins special teams wins the game more often than not.

Wut?

This was probably our best special teams game all season.

We kicked a 45yard FG, Darr averaged like 46yards a punt, our coverage units were solid except for one return, and we nearly blocked a punt. How do you blame special teams coaching for them downing us on the 1? It was just a good punt by them that fell dead at the 5.

Because others around the country haven't had their teeth kicked in for the past 7 years.

I agree we are on the verge but damn it would be nice to bounce back with a win like that

We will. I know it's frustrating but I can see fundamental changes in this team from a mindset standpoint. I truly believe they think they can beat anybody. In college football, that's half the battle.

IF TN just doesn't fumble in the endzone they might win the game.

or

If they don't fumble the zone read and kick the FG its a tie game.

That close....

That is an issue on a lot of plays, I agree. But on multiple plays, especially in the first half, we lined up with 4 receivers and were trying to throw deep while UGA had 7 in the box and was sending a heavy blitz. 5 linemen can't account for all of them, there will be a free rusher. Bajakian needed to be either audibling to a quick hitter or calling that in the first place.

Once the game is posted on youtube I'll go back and post some of those plays.

Or maybe Bajakian just isn't calling plays well...

If the OL all wins their one on ones vs a 8 man box, you've still got 3 free rushers. On the plays where they sent heavily blitzes the corners were playing deep coverage. If you can show me something on film that proves me wrong please do so.

I get there are some really good calls and our guys fail to execute. But I'm afraid that more often than not he's hindering our ability to succeed rather than helping.

We're gonna need Dobbs or one of the freshman QBs to step up next season. Peterman is like a deer in the headlights out there.

We landed two stud DL last night.

Our coach is a rising star in the football world and is working his ass off to get this team back to glory.

And our young team is playing its heart out week after week.

Good things are going to happen.

Give. It. Time.

And enjoy the ride back up. This season is young and we WILL upset a team, maybe even two.
