Religion/Bible/Theology Topic - Beware All Ye That Enter Here

Kind of puts a hole in "Intelligent design" or guided evolution doesn't it, if he isn't doing any designing any more?

It's possible He got it right the first time, and now He's just letting us try our skills at running things.

I guess I take "resting" too literally?

I look at it as if he set everything in motion as he saw fit and now just provides a little nudge or guides things along until the time has come for the next step.

As I said before I am open to discussion and in no way am I afraid of new ideas concerning my religion and faith. I kind of enjoy the challenge.

When one has completed a perfect creation, no more work is neccessary.

Gambling is a sin.:nono:

Not for winners like me, you must be thinking of the koran rather than the Bible.

What book, chapter and verse are you citing?

but i do have plenty of hard evidence and proof. her actions. if god provided me with such evidence i surely would not be agnostic.

Dinner and family stuff so I can't finish this now. But I did want to say thank you Droski for not going straight for a punchline (and you know we both had our chances) and being willing to exchange the thoughts about it.

Later peeps!!

Putting hope in wealth sounds a lot like the gist of what one is doing when they are gambling to me.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you

Sounds like don't gamble to me... But whatever.

The renowned Biblical scholar of our time, Google, seems to overwhelmingly agree that it is wrong:

Let me google that for you

Just a thought. Google does not have the Holy Spirit abiding in it to help it discern the word of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

This is true.

True not only of theological questions but also of scientific inquiry.

Ask any professional physicist and he will say we have only barely begun to scratch the surface of potential knowledge that can be learned.

If he will not leave me, how can it be gambling? (i do not, by the way)

I'll go with 1st Timothy Chapter 6, verse 17.

Silver and gold have I none but of what I do have, I give freely. :)

Or Hebrews Chapter 13 verse 5.

I take great solace and comfort in that passage and do testify that although I may have oft strayed from the path of righteousness, the Good Lord has never forsaken me.

Wealth can be a huge stumbling block - or so I hear. :)

Hard to trip over a dime huh? :)

A little wealth is an absolute blocade to some however there are those with great wealth who will say; "what I have is what God has given me dominion over and it is up to me to do with it as He would see fit."

Speaking of google, consider this.

Never forget the Orwelian memory hole.

BTW, I know a guy who won $8 million in one poker game and put every last dime of it in his church offering plate.

I couldn't care less if someone wants to believe the earth was created yesterday.

My point is people accepting impossible explanations on one subject (ie...the age of the earth) because they have accepted a premise on another (ie...believing the Bible is the word of God) is intellectually dishonest at best, and patently absurd at worst.

JMO though. If people want to believe man was created out of dust and divine breath in a garden with a talking snake in a single act of creation 10,000 years ago...well...more power to them.

It was not a snake. It had wings.......... hello!

The curse was to crawl on its belly...

Okay, so what do all you Bible scholars and others think of the notion, presented in the original post, that the fall of man as depicted in Genesis might actually be man's decision to build and live in civilization rather than in nature/The Garden?

The Matrix explains every thing.
