Religious leadership on this team and Bryce Brown...

FWIW, any conversion these guys might have had will either be affirmed or disproven by how their lives go from here on out. Edwards in particular didn't get what he would have liked if it was a jailhouse conversion. The test of whether his conversion was real or not is whether he follows Christ regardless of circumstances.

Boy do I hope we have Chris Walker around for another season... after reading the article on the FCA meeting involving Mike Edwards and Janzen Jackson it made me a lot more comfortable with the future of the program even after the debacle of the previous two weeks.

I just found it so amusing when everyone and their brother was convinced that Bryce Brown was going to be trouble and lucky to last 2 seasons on the football team. This kid is one of the most religious people you would ever meet, and a great influence on his teammates.

I'm not trying to pull everyone back into a Fulmer vs. Kiffin debate, but it feels like we've got rid of most of the cancer that was eating our program from the inside over the last decade and have established real leadership and discipline. Believe me when I say this will eventually give us the extra credibility we need when we're trying to recruit future players mothers.

The future is strong with guys like Anthony Anderson, and Bryce Brown... and I'm more excited than ever for the future of the program.

Sounds good. Thanks for the post.

Does it really matter who or what you worship?...if you worshiped a rock, and it works for you than more power to you.

If you worship a rock... you might do something stupid... like try to rob somebody at the Pilot Mart.

This is about religion, not just Christianity.

That religion is such a diva out of all the religions.

I thought this thread was started about an FCA meeting.

FCA = Fellowship of Christian Athletes

And I would not necessarily describe Christianity as "diva." Christianity deals in truths and moral absolutes not moral relativism.

Sorry, by "this" I meant the comment you originally quoted.

And do you think Christianity is practiced that way by the general population? Blink twice for no.

Actually, the three amigos were Christians. So suck on that!

Really? I'm not saying that Christians never do things that are wrong but can you provide some evidence that these young men had ever lived lives consistent with biblical standards and principles?

Too many people think that Christianity is simply a label someone adopts or a group they join. That may be a popular conception... but it doesn't meet the NT criteria.

Lip service, "nominal" Christians make up the majority of America. When polled, the percentage of Americans that actually believe basic biblical doctrines and endeavor to live biblical values ranges between 7% and 14%.

A number which has mercifully fallen for decades. Not where it needs to be yet, but it's on its way.

You can't argue religion on an internet forum.
Things are getting out of hand. It is offensive to many people to read and hear slander towards their religion. This thread was started with the best intentions and now it is has been wasted.

You must understand that Christianity is about a personal relationship with Christ, not football or anything else. Football is irrelevant to God unless it is used a tool by Christians to spread the teachings of Christ. Also, to be a Christian one does not need to be perfect as the only person ever perfect on this earth was Christ himself. Every one will fall short of the glory of God. It is not that Christians are hypocrites, but they seek or search for the word of Christ and try to act as Christ. No one will ever be perfect as Man feel from glory long ago. Man must walk the earth with Satan as the Prince and ruler of the earth UNTIL the return of Christ. I can assure you as a cancer survivor, I have met the great healer and one day you will too.

Religion qua religion is one thing. But when you post on a football board that you expect to win football games thanks to what's going on in an FCA meeting, you can expect to hear some criticism.

And anyone who thinks criticism is "offensive" and "slander" needs a thicker skin.

Someone in my family died painfully of cancer last year. She was a devout three-times-a-week-to-church Christian. Did God not like her? Why didn't he heal her too?

Great Post.

Glad you have been able to tackle that disease, and hope you stay healthy in the future. Better days are coming.:hi:

Everyone will die. When man fell in the Garden of eden mans fait was death. Until Christ died on the cross, man did not get to heaven. Heaven is where God wants you. The faster you get there the better. God is Love and anything good, the devil will lie to you so you think bad things about anything good.

Then why did you sound happy about being a cancer survivor?

You can't have it both ways. If God gets credit when people get better from cancer, then he deserves to be blamed when people die. If he is the "great healer" then he is also the great killer.

I liked Bryce Brown when he said that he fasted in his decision about which college he was going to attend.

Sorry to hear that man. Death is never easy, for those that they leave behind.

Im sure if you asked her, and she was as devout as you say she was, she would say he did her a favor in a way.

I have had relatives die in the same situation as you explain, and you felt a sense of them being prepared to die, and in a lot of ways, not worry about.

Some believe that, and some don't.
