Frankly, I couldn't care how clear his political affiliations look to be, this is unacceptable action for anyone.

Sheriff certainly had a lot to say - Arizona as a "Mecca of bigotry" that Giffords, he, and several other public officials had been inundated with threats of varying degrees for a long period of time. Placed the blame on "vitriol." Said Pima Co was aware of the young man and his accomplice. Dared to suggest we are close to being ungovernable.

He certainly has some context from which to speak. Certainly far more context than any of us.

I know several Democrats who go into vapor-lock at the mention of Ralph Nader. To date, no "disaffected Left-Winger" has taken her / his Uzi-9 to Ralph.

There is an 800-lbs gorilla in the parlor, people, and the sheriff dares to say the Emperor has no clothes.

I get the sense I've broken you volinbham. I regret that, truly. Generally, you do enter the debate, at least, with the right footing and with the right purpose, even if perhaps without all the data.

We would all do well to stop being a tool of the dominant culture, btw. Ask not for whom the bell tolls....

I sense I have. Which is unfortunate in a way, but I get the sense he might be returning to the data - and that's a good place to go.

I actually have no idea what your leanings are, IP. I do reject your position we should ignore the politics in this case (or in the cases of other WONJs). It was, after all, an assassination attempt on an elected leader. Maybe he was just trying to impress Jody Foster. Certainly the sheriff didn't suggest that, but maybe so. Again, it's piqued my curiousity to look at the data more.

I wouldn't get upset about that.

I find this the most ironic.

If I didn't check the board for a couple hours after a post, there would be posts begging for my response to some question from the people who say I "troll."

We know who the real trolls are, I'm afraid. Amazingly, they haven't chimed in. on this thread.

I reject the notion that the question of politics is not an immediate concern on an assassination attempt on an elected Congresswoman - an assassination attempt that has left the coroner the busiest person in the USA. I doubly reject it when the Pima Co sheriff has stated there have been numerous threats against a large number of elected officials.

Sorry that has riled some of you up. You may just have to drive-on though.
