Republican Nomination for President

Who would you vote for to run for President from the Republican Party?

The messages that reach most people don't seem to be in line with that though. More along the lines of "Such and such isn't a real conservative and/or has Obama cooties."

His posts are a lot better when you read them in the voice of Aunt Bea.

Try Blanche's voice from "The Golden Girls", you can almost visualize LG getting "the vapors" whenever Obama is on the TV

I made Obama president to force Americans to vote small gov't in the next election. More freedom = more souls for KK.

Who are "most people"?

I'm stunned that you and LG are claiming that the GOP candidates have not expressed why they want to be POTUS. They do it every time they open their mouths. It has been a core part of every debate and every post election speech.

ahh, and there you have it folks, it's LG's fallback position that any criticism of Obama must be based on racism

it's gone beyond asinine to just plain pathetic

I think this is why tgere is a lot of support for Newt over Mitt, b/c he seems to be the only candidate that will call people out on the ridiculousness of the racist argument.

They do it all the time. That's the empty promises part I'm talking about. When they say they want to shrink government they mean they might slow the growth of government....if they get around to it.

"Food stamp President" is just freaking blatant.

And is indeed why the phrase was/is so popular amongst the toothless legion that is South Carolina.

In every debate, in every speech they talk about why they want to be president, their view of how America should be governmend and specific policies they will pursue. What about those topics is NOT saying why they should be president?

Since they have opponents, they also talk about why they are a better choice.

I was referring less to the actual candidates (with some exceptions, see e.g. Newt's reference to Obama as the "Food Stamp President"), and more to the ground troops.

All I've heard is hollow talking points. I didn't say they haven't expressed themselves in a positive light, they do but they do intermix messages with electing the anti-Obama. I've also tried to catch a good number of campaign spots, and they're overwhelmingly negative.

I've even heard it time and again on here. This election for the GOP base is more about removing Obama than anything else, is it not?

I see, all Rs in SC are dumb, poor, racists.

Classic LG - whine about bigotry while being bigoted. Awesome.

Hold on - every election is the same and for both parties.

Obama has already begun to explain why the GOP sucks and has done so with hollow talking points about "fairness", etc.

Is this really a criticism that is current GOP candidate specific or a systemic reality of electoral politics?

aren't more white people on food stamps? I applaud LG for calling out racism no matter who it is against :hi:

I really can't tell if this is a troll. You're criticizing stereotypes while blanketing the alleged bigots with a stereotype.

You just can't make this **** up.

Calling him the "Food Stamp President" is simply red meat for those voters who believe that every single thing Obama does is designed to take money from white people and give it to black people.

Sadly, I have heard comments indicating people actually believe that 100 % and they don't care for your pesky facts.

Sure, there are still backwoods racists out there, but you don't really believe that's generally the case do you?

There are many more people out there that think he's a Muslim agent, communist, militant environmentalist or new age pseudo-Nazi usurping the white house (or all of the above if you're gsvol) but it doesn't translate to racism.
