Do you people that say syuff like this know how welfare works. You can only be on welfare a total of about three years before you are cut off forever. While you are on welfare if you are not disabled you have to work to get benefits if you go three months without a job you get cut off. You cant just live on welfare for ten years.

Go ahead and believe that....

you can live on housing assistance for freaking ever. That is a huge chunk of our ridiculously bloated entitlements budget. Forget welfare, it's but a drop in the bucket.

There are many ways to get government assistance and they find a way to keep sucking blood out of the government.

The way I understand it is that after your benefits are exhausted you have to reapply and many times assistance is continued.

To act as if the vast majority is not working the system to get something for nothing is an argument you cannot win.

And what the hell do you mean by "you people"?

True, I will give you that but housing assistance is needed. Alot of people that work would not be able to afford a place to live without it.

i was always taught that if you ever want anything at life you have to work for it. plain and simple, the work ethic of a lot of people sucks, and . Its more a thought of what am i entitled to then what have i earned. its sad really. i see it daily with the students i work with. I facilitated a academic intervention the other day, and i had a student tell me that she didnt need to learn this stuff, she can be like her momma and get a welfare check... made me a sick at my stomach

As I think most of us have.

Some people can't afford homes, or apartments, even with a job. Very simple.

Is that because home prices are too inflated in their area? Many times that is the case especially in major metro cities. The funny thing is they could afford a much better lifestyle in a different region of the country but choose to stay where they are because they have grown comfortable and we make it easy for them to do so.

Granted this is not true in all cases but in many it is.

Funny thing is, that's where most welfare collecting people are. But then again, it does cost some money to move from one town to another.

Actually there are more people in rural areas on welfare. But I agree if a person cant afford to live in a city they probaby cant afford to just move to another part of the country, let alone go in advance to set up a job and housing.

ok,,, soo better education cant help out the masses? i mean other then forced steralization on some of these people (kidding) what is your suggestion?

Dumping money from one failed institution into other failed institution does not educate people.

Ehh, don't know about that. I'd say that a bit over 50% live in cities. I could be wrong though.

who says its completely failed? there are several that fall through the cracks, but there are 10x more that come out of a PS system that do well. Its just the ones that fall through the cracks get the most media attention which a whole other issue

how do you think the country was originally populated? how do you think people made this joint work pre-welfare and pre-housing assistance?

I don't care how well they do or do not perform. I have no interest in paying for it, or worse, paying more for it.

no, they didn't miss it. liberals are still living in the 60's. we just elect a half black president and they are still acting like they can't vote. typical liberals. it will be the theme of how our country will be run.

I would hate to be in your shoes. You are one miserable guy. For someone who constantly spews rhetoric concerning individual responsibility, you sure let the libs control your thoughts
