They couldn't pick the cotton themselves? Were they too lazy or figured free labor was the best way to build generational wealth.
I've always admired the slaves that fought back and killed the slave masters.
I used "romanticize" in the correct term, because the main cause that the south was fighting for was to hold on to the institution of slavery. Slavery was the economic engine that drove the south. What other business model exist where no labor wages are paid? To act as if there were other "causes" is disingenuous. There were US Troops at Ft. Sumter (US Base) and the confederate troops fired on them. Just because the south thought they could secede, doesn't mean that they could. The only reason that they seceded was to hold on to slavery. For the record, the uprising led by Nat Turner occurred when the masters were away at militia muster calls. Prosser's and Vesey's never got off the ground.
I'm still absolutely dumbfounded that you have thrown the word "romanticize" around like you have and that you don't know that Lincoln's call to arms after Ft. Sumter is what led to the secession of the Upper South because federal troops would have to march through the Upper South to punish South Carolina.
Edit: and this is likely why AJ didn't follow through on hanging JCC and the Nullies.
I loathe Southern apologists and proponents of the "Lost Cause," but simplifying and expressing ignorance while standing on the other side is no better.
And you know this person went to public school how? But lets saddle her with your "ideology" for convenience. I take it you're a product of home schooling?Did I say it was the root of all evil ? I’ll wait for you to explain why this young lady doesn’t know who he is . You do realize kids go to school to actually learn facts right ?
