I think these times are, in fact, a reflection of the will of the majority. Democracy is working. Most people recognize that a rebel flag is a symbol of the Confederacy and what it stood for.
I get the argument that "this is a reflection of history, and we can't change it". True. In that vein, statues and rebel flags and the like belong in a museum.
He was born dirt poor and become wealthy through the slave trade and real estate. He joined the confederacy by personally arming his men. He was the only confederate general to rise from the rank of private. He was effective due to his use of asymmetrical warfare techniques. He might be the most formidable person in the history of American warfare. All evidence points to his reluctance to stop the Ft. Pillow massacre and that he made attempts to deny his role in it. He became the 1st Grand Wizard of the KKK, a title given due his monicker “Wizard of the Saddle”. He left the KKK and seems to have made some attempt at reconciliation with African- Americans at the end of his life, whether genuine or not. He was definitely a person you didn’t want to cross. What are peoples thoughts on Nathan Bedford Forest?

On Saturday, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper called for Confederate monuments to be removed from the State Capitol following two statues being pulled down by protestors Friday evening.
As reported by Reuters, Saturday morning, construction workers took down monuments including one in tribute to women of the Confederacy. Another honored Confederate soldier Henry Wyatt.

I think the later part of his life is not known well enough. To say he made some attempt reconciliation is understating it. People don't know enough about this man especially his later years unfortunatelyHe was born dirt poor and become wealthy through the slave trade and real estate. That’s fair but I’ve had a hard time finding books about him. The problem is twofold imo.I think the later part of his life is not known well enough. To say he made some attempt reconciliation is understating it. People don't know enough about this man especially his later years unfortunately
