Richt To Miami

Exactly, this is good news for us. Historically, when Miami is strong, UF suffers from it. If Scott Frost gets something going at UCF, it will further dilute their recruiting pool.

Richt has never been a "do more with less" kind of coach, so this probably makes more sense for him. Go somewhere you can pull in great talent pretty easily and not take a job where you have to really coach up and scheme with 2 and 3 star players.

Misconceptions. UF, UM and FSU have all been top 15 teams at the same time. A few years back all three finished top 10 in recruiting.

Historically its usually enough talent to go around for instate programs. This just makes it harder for Vols, Ga and Clem. Richt will make it harder all programs recruiting Ga as well. Honestly Richt to UM is bad for all recruiting wise.

I will now start rooting for the Canes unless they are playing us. They just got a great coach.

Worse for UGA and FSU. Second level of Clemson, Fl etc. Tn in the third level. We rarely pull a kid from Miami right now anyway

I never denied Richt could go there, but it's not a good fit. I don't expect it to work out too well. At best, he repeats himself. Wins a lot of games, loses most the big ones and Miami is still behind FSU and UF in Florida.

Miami has sucked for a good while now, so if just repeats himself, that's a huge improvement for Miami.

Agree, but there will be a year or two gap before he can make a dent in convincing kids to go to the U....

Here's the kicker, I have seen bowl predictions of Georgia vs Miami. I would love to see Richt go there and beat Georgia within a month.

The ACC just got a lot tougher. Good hire by Miami. Not the most desirable program, but maybe he can restore it.

They need to do a lot to the "U". First thing is they need a stadium that is closer to the University. Players have to be bused to the Games. How messed up is that?? They also need to update their facilities.

But, in the end, winning can fix anything. If he can get the players that he wants there, they can shake up the ACC, and do it pretty quickly.

I don't think Richt will have much of a problem recruiting down there in South Florida. He also has the connections in the state of Georgia to pull from. Miami is like a golden pipeline to the NFL, so that also works out in his favor. I'm not even joking when I say this, but they have so many former NFL STARS that come back to visit and cheer for the school, if he's willing to embrace them. Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Willis McGahee, and all sorts of current NFL starters. He also won't have to deal with that rigorous SEC grind in the ACC. I think he might be able to compete with FSU and Clemson on a yearly basis once he gets the talent level restored at the U.

Will they be like the Miami of old? Who knows. That was a pretty special and golden time in Miami's history, so naturally anything like that would be hard to get back to. But I think Miami has the best shot of getting back to that under Richt.
