Richt To Miami

Jacob Eason likes UGA. Jacob Eason LOVES Mark Richt. That cross country trip to have breakfast after the Auburn game? It's about to pay HUGE dividends in South Beach. And UGA not having a QB to fall back on? Well that just makes life on Rocky Top that much sweeter.

Miami's QB isn't that bad, there's some talent in that team and Richt will have them winning in no time in the weak ACC

Not gonna lie, I've always liked CMR and now he's outta the SEC well I hope he does great til he's playin us and well, then I hope he gets a beat down. But UGA made a huge mistake and I hope they experience n go thru what we went thru for years.

Miami is a sleeping giant waiting to be awakened by Coach Richt...which will be good for us...I believe...:peace2:.

GO VOLS!

I still can't believe UGA fired a guy who won 9 games just about every year, and hired a guy with zero head coaching experience. Maybe McGarity is a double agent for UF afterall.

As far as recruiting goes, there's plenty of in-state talent to go around for UF/FSU/Miami, in addition to USF/UCF/FAU/FIU and so on.

Historically Miami being up hasn't benefitted Tennessee or really anyone else in the SEC...makes it harder for those schools to come in and cherry pick Dade/Broward/Palm Beach.

But Tennessee potentially struck gold with the Smart hire. If Smart fails to lock down the borders like Richt did, UT could begin to lure some 1990s type talent from the Peach State.

Great hire by Miami. Georgia can have Kirby Smart. With Smart, you are getting a coordinator with 0 head coaching experience. Have fun getting your feet wet Kirby. 75% winning record wasn't enough for Richt!

By a guy who won two SEC championships at Georgia for the first time since Herschel Walker played there.

But hadn't one won in 10 years, and couldn't even win the East the last 3 seasons despite being the favorite to do so. And that was a very weak East he couldn't win.

I could understand UGA fans' frustrations, but I am surprised UGA dumped MR to grab up a coordinator, despite Smart being a Saban guy. UGA is a plum job and I would imagine they could have a lengthy list of quality guys with HC experience who would have been very interested in the job. Richt was an OC with no HC when UGA hired him, to be sure, but I don't think the league had near as many quality HCs then as it does now.

I never denied Richt could go there, but it's not a good fit. I don't expect it to work out too well. At best, he repeats himself. Wins a lot of games, loses most the big ones and Miami is still behind FSU and UF in Florida.

Possibly a great fit. Richt's recruiting knowledge and people skills will make him a major factor in the state of Florida and throughout the Southeast. With his 15 yrs at Georgia, he has major inroads and relationships with every HS program and should hurt Gator AND Seminole recruiting, along with Clemson and others. If the Cane administration gets behind him and his staff, Miami could be back with a vengeance. I love this move for him and hope it works out. Can only help the Vols and hurt the Gators, IMHO, and that's a WIN-WIN for us.

This is a huge mistake, imo. You take a really nice fellow, without a brash or braggart bone in his body, and put him in to try to salvage a program whose entire identity is swagger and a reckless image. Terrible fit, no chance.

Images change, lg, and sometimes for the better. Perhaps all it's going to take is a coach and staff that brings character and integrity to the program. That stale, "thug" mentality that Miami has cultivated for so long is no longer fashionable. A breath of fresh air may be just what those kids down there really look to. Bring some real respect that quality recruits are starving for. I think that will happen. Time will tell....

Have you been to a game there?

Half the people there and counting themselves as Miami fans have no idea where the campus is. They are there just to be part of the thug culture.

The actual alumni base in the area, or willing to go to games from a distance, is tiny. And disinterested. Richt's vanilla ho-hum I lose 2-3 games a year I shouldn't approach has no chance of winning them over.

completely disagree. the value of stability and level headed ness, required to run that ship are huge commodities when dealing with NFL type personalities. Richt type personality, servant leader type, can hold others accountable without actually disciplining.

Butch Davis was no less Howdy Doody, milk toast than Richt, and he turned it around.

The big question is whether or not Miami's administration will give Richt the budget he needs to assemble a solid coaching staff.

No, I haven't, but I have good friends in the Miami area that are totally stoked over this move. There's nothing like a solid winning with class program to change the previous attitude. I think this is what Mark Richt and his staff will bring; sooner rather than later.... I sincerely hope so.

Exactly, LW. The admin MUST step up with their big boy pants on, as in, M-O-N-E-Y.

Rumor has Jon Gruden heading for CookVegas to replace Watson Brown...who you hearing?
Mark Wilson leaves for slightly better FCS job.

Watson becomes AD, brings in brother Mack as Head Coach.

Every sport endures sub-.300 win percentage as result.

Miami needs Richt. Richt does not need Miami.
