Im happy for Coach Richt, Good Coach but even better man!

I agree. I cant believe they would let Richt go, and hire Kirby Smart! I got a funny feeling, that GA is going to regret firing Richt in the near future. We all know what happens, when you make a bad hire in a situation like this.

And the coaching dominos begin to fall...Watson Brown out; Jon Gruden to lead the Golden Eagles into Neyland in 2016.

The ACC just got a lot tougher. Good hire by Miami. Not the most desirable program, but maybe he can restore it.

Huh?

By a guy that could not win the sucky easr division with an established program under his guidance?

The rewriting of Mark Richt history is nauseating.

This has a Roy Williams feel to it. Nice guy who won a lot at KU but not the big one. Then, change of scene to UNC and blam: two national titles. I don't necessarily think Richt will win multiple titles but I'm pretty sure he will roll out much, much better teams at the U than have been down there recently and he will win one or more ACC titles and will have at least one team that could win a title but who knows if he will. Winning championships is a combination of coaching (Xs and Os and player development), recruiting, and good fortune. Richt had bad luck, some due to his own failures as a coach but a lot beyond his control, that led to UGA never winning a title. His legacy could have been entirely different if the WR didn't catch the short throw from Murray after the tip inside the 5 with seconds left against Bama in the SEC title game.

i hated, but respected St Richt for years. im dumfounded by his firing. I think Miami made the slam dunk hire of year, much more impressed with Richt hire than Mcelwain.

Richt will have them winning, soon. Hell, all Miami needs is an offense. has for years.

agreed. He doesn't fit the culture of The U, he's never been able to win the big games and he's only a good recruiter, not a great one. Suddenly he's the best thing since sliced bread that isn't named Butch. I don't get it. But I'll understand when Miami isnt happy in five years.

I hope he negotiated an on campus stadium to be built

Maybe if you are looking at it from his perspective, but I hope all the schools not named Tennessee make dumb mistakes that cost them games/ hurts their recruiting!

I guess some may say and may have valid point that it helps us when the state of Florida is spit in recruiting, but I see it as another school that Florida recruits may choose over us.

Georgia just did something really, really stupid. The U just did something really, really intelligent. Not only did they get a quality coach and man, they hired the guy that can fully rebuild the image of the school to much of the public. He will positively impact lives in South FL where it is needed most.

So glad this happened. This is setting up amazingly to disappoint UGA fans. Lots of cocky UGA fans in Atlanta were thinking Richt would stay around and they are still naming assistant coaches that would never happen. Excited to watch them realize what a mistake they made over the next few years as they watch Richt win at Miami.

Jacob Eason likes UGA. Jacob Eason LOVES Mark Richt. That cross country trip to have breakfast after the Auburn game? It's about to pay HUGE dividends in South Beach. And UGA not having a QB to fall back on? Well that just makes life on Rocky Top that much sweeter.

How in the world does UGA think they upgraded??? Richt could do well at the U. So much local talent. I wonder how well he will do at getting a lot of the GA talent too. Would be interesting to see how that affects the recruiting.
