Should he have more tournament success than he has? Yes. He also has had Tennessee playing over its historical standing as a program almost the entire time he's been here. It's disappointing but you can't really reasonably expect (you can hope for, but not necessarily expect) better.

I can appreciate the measured take you’ve got. It’s a good comment. It just is so much more frustrating that non hall of fame coaches (yet) in football and basketball here are vastly overachieving. Combine that with the great hires made at Bama/Arky and possibly on or more of Mizzou/UF/MSU/aTm and it kills me when we have these losses and the lackluster March play. It’s hard not to go 1000x BVS bc of that crap.

It’s so funny how you and whatever percentage of the Tennessee fan base whether it’s football or basketball have the loser mentality “well who are you gonna get it?” there are plenty of basketball coaches all across this country that can coach offensive basketball better than Rick Barnes. I guarantee you that!!!!!

I like Barnes and appreciate what he's done for the program. That being said, I've come to expect these late season flameouts. I just hope he retires while our program is still competitive so we can attract another quality coach.

Most likely we will promote from within or hire a mid major coach

anyone thinking we will be able to poach a successful sitting Power 6 HC is going to be disappointed

not even Duke or UNC did that this time

the cartel does not allow you to criticize him! I was told you can’t say anything until there is a losing record! They can all F off! Barnes’ pattern is clearly defined! He wastes talent and is not a good offensive coach!

Don’t engage with that guy. It’s pointless. He probably still thinks Butch Jones, Cuonzo Martin and Holly Warlick are good coaches.

Sure they can but Fulmer was the AD at the time.

He made one of the worst hires in Tennessee football history.

What made us think we could trust him to hire a solid basketball coach?
