It’s indicative of what’s coming in the NCAA tournament. The same crap we’ve seen year in and year out. I’m not sure I’ve made myself clear here. I’m grateful for what Barnes has done, but it’s a fact he underperforms in MarchIf it’s meaningless, why are you upset then?
Seems like you’re throwing sh*t at the wall and seeing what sticks.
I don’t think you get it. If you are pissed about today, then he didn’t underperform in March in 2018, 2019, or 2022. He went to the tournament finals every year. You guys need to stick to an argument. At least wait until next weekend. He has not underperformed in the conference tournament. It’s indicative of what’s coming in the NCAA tournament. It’s more about the fact these unbelievably horrific offensive outings have become a staple with Rick Barnes. It is no longer bad luck or a coincidence and it will 100% happen to us in the tournament. I’m gonna guess around the 2nd roundIf the SECT is meaningless, what are you so worked up about? Your season starts next week.
Cool! Meaningless tho, so still failing to see your point in all of this. I’d be chillaxing and looking forward to Sunday if I were you. I recall when Pearl was here some fans complained the team was gassed by MarchSince yall won't let this thread die I'll post this here:
I do have a different perspective on Barnes now. I know I'm not super knowledgeable in basketball (not that I am in football) and listening to Caleb Calhoun (which I know yall don't like but every guest agreed) he was really hammering home weeks ago a big part of why Barnes underperforms in the tourney: players are gassed.
Barnes loves to coach players and do so the right way. This includes "you'll play when you practice well", gameplan or future be danged. This leads to players being overpracticed and gassed down the stretch. It's like he doesn't believe in load management at the sacrifice of teaching the players lessons.
It really seemed that the team gave it their all to win the season title. They took off against a hot Kentucky team. Miss St is fired up to impress the committee and make a run. The vols didn't look like they wanted to be there.
So I appreciate that Barnes sticks to his principles but it seems it plays a big role in him always bowing out early in the NCAAT.
Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, this has been a really fun season to watch.
That's something that I've heard a lot. If you're playing for Barnes, you might as well give every practice 100% on defense or you'll be transferring quickly. Rick never could find that balance of the "all or nothing " mentality. You're flat out exhausted by March. It's too late to expect any different.Since yall won't let this thread die I'll post this here:

Except that he’s led his team to the conference finals in 3 of the last 5, which were indeed played in March. There is no excuse for a non-competitive loss like this! What we saw today was utterly disgusting! I like Rick Barnes as a person and he’s a HOF’er as a teacher of basketball, but he has no talent for inspiring teams to win consistently come tournament time. He truly is Regular Season Rick. It’s nice to win the SEC and all, but what really counts in college basketball is winning tournament games and advancing deep in tournaments. Whenever the time comes to replace Barnes, I sure hope we get someone who who can deliver the goods in March.
