Lol sure guy your opinion matters let’s shake our fist at the sky and let RB know he is overrated and overpaid even though he is already one of the best coaches in UT basketball history…we won’t insinuate or want him to be fired but we will think that we can do better even though our history suggests otherwise. I’m not sure what the profit or gain of this argument is but it seems sound to its core and we should totally accept it in theory! There are lots of things you don't know sir.
Lol so let me get this straight? You want to get rid of a coach that consistently get our teams into the tournament from a program that doesn’t have any sustained success or a rich history of making the tourney year in and year out because you think we can do better…what in our history suggests we can do better? The fact you have no idea of any possible replacements makes it seem like you have no idea what you are talking about…why should anybody take your opinion seriously?
Again what candidates do you foresee us getting that can produce Bruce Pearl results?“What in our history suggests we can do better?”
Answer: Bruce Pearl’s tenure. This not to say that Barnes should be fired at all, but to respond to the inquiry. When being paid top 5 money, better results are expected, at least in my mind.
UCLA may expect results. At least here, there's an army of apologists willing to never win any championships while paying you in excess of $5,000,000 annually. Hard to beat if you ask me.UCLA is a better job than Tennessee and has a rich tradition of winning National Titles.
The chance to win at UCLA is much much higher.
Believe it or not there are some coaches that who build their own programs into success and refuse to leave. Of course there are others who get a nice check and won't take their time or energy to build their own dynasty, they take easy way and average 20 win seasons without a care in the world for their fan base.UCLA is a better job than Tennessee and has a rich tradition of winning National Titles.

Donnie Tyndall was 7-11 in the SEC and lost 12 games to UNRANKED opponents.
CCM also got the Tennessee job, and if you ask folks here they’ll tell you he couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag, so not sure what that point proves? LolHe's a good coach on the floor. He got the Tennessee job for a reason. To act like he's not good at in-game coaching and preparation is to deny reality.

Lmao ok DonnieHis resume as a coach was much more impressive than Cuonzo's. Cuonzo's career highlight when we hired him was a 2nd round NIT appearance. Tyndall had won 20+ games 6 different times, had won multiple conference tournaments and went to 2 NCAATs where he beat Pitino/Louisville as a 13 seed. He may have screwed up royally off the court (though the NCAA evidence was shaky as it turns out) but his in-game and game preparation was excellent. 16-16 with what he took over from the Cuonzo fiasco was impressive.
We lost 10 players total off the roster when Cuonzo left. The roster was devastated. We had no post players on that team. It returned 20 percent of it's scoring/minutes played. Our SOS for that season was 30th nationally. It was a great job to win 7 SEC games, finish 10th and have a .500 record with that team, we even beat multiple top 25 teams. The next year 70 percent of scoring/minutes played returned, our SOS was 48th nationally and our record was worse under Barnes overall and in SEC play, with a 12th place finish.
Tyndall had a pro in Richardson who graduated before Barnes came, and Kevin Punter got hurt and was out about the last 3 weeks of the season. Ended the regular season with 4 losses.
Tyndall beat a ranked Butler and Arkansas. Barnes beat a ranked Kentucky and South Carolina.
If yours is trying to convince folks DT was a good coach at Tennessee you shouldn’t even be allowed to post in this forum
He also is serving a 10 year ban for cheating. The fascination some people on this board have for the slime of college basketball is hilarious. His resume as a coach was much more impressive than Cuonzo's. Tyndall is a good basketball coach. If people can't see that, I can't help it. Bad basketball coaches don't win 20+ games 6 times and beat Rick Pitino in the NCAA tournament with a small school.
Barnes had worse results with 3x the returning experience that Tyndall had. So either Tyndall did a bad job and Barnes a worse job the next year, or Tyndall did pretty darn well to take over a worse situation than Barnes did and pull out more wins vs a tougher schedule than Barnes did in year one. I believe the latter and Tyndall's track record at other stops suggests he knows what he's doing in game prep and game day coaching situations.
