It's a good hire, Spencer was the better. RG is established in FL, it's those connections that sealed this. Looking forward to seeing the results. Good luck, RG!
What would have worked was paying him what he deserved when the new salaries were decided. Only one coach on staff was getting paid less. Hart and Jones basically smacked him in the face. I don't blame Jay for leaving.
But what's done is done. Hopefully Gillespie can do a good job, but I'd prefer Jay was still here. Now we have no former Vols on the immediate coaching staff.
People need to stop blaming Jay and just admit Jones screwed up on this one. He took care of his guys and left JG out in the cold. It's not unforgivable. We can get past it. But Jones screwed up.
New running backs coach Robert Gillespie (@Coachg601) has been hard at work. Details here at Volquest.
@Coachg601 also has spoken to @NickChubb2. Find out what Chubb thinks here.
Did Jay Graham have an agent? Did Jay Graham sign the contract? Why blame Jones? He made an offer and it was agreed to. He gave him a raise too! Then he offered him $40,000 More to stay. Wish I could get a raise like that. Jones did not screw up - you did for posting such stupidity.
Does Butch enjoy having your nose stuck so far up his ass you can smell his lunch? Neither you nor I know what was said and done behind closed doors, but salaries released by UT showed Graham was the second lowest paid coach. Butch didn't come back with the $40,000 until after FSU offered. Butch came in, took care of his guys, and left Jay feeling like an outsider. Butch dropped the ball.
Many on here were excited when CBJ said he wanted this staff to have a Volunteer feel to it at his first presser. Now everyone is just f' it. What happenned to the excitement? Now everyone is throwing all their support to CBJ without him having proved a damn thing and trashing guys who gave their all on the field for UT. Feels a lot like Dooley all over again. And God knows, I do not want a Dooley 2.0.
Some people need to remember that Jay, Tee, and all of our former players gave their all for UT, and for us, on that football field. Respect them for that. They're trying to build a career, and UT isn't helping them by offering them lower pay than they can get elsewhere. Any of you want to take lesser pay for doing the same job?
BTW OP, Mensa called, they had a good chuckle at your expense, dumbass.

Yeah he really disrepected Jay, He asked him to stay and gave him a nice raise. What excatly did Jay do in his 1 YEAR at UT to deserve a larger bump in pay anyway?
If he felt disrepected I am pretty sure Jones didn't hold a gun on him and MAKE him sign the deal.
Haha yeah rightIn his one year, Jay coached up the RBs he had better than they had been coached up previously. He kept us in the hunt for some big names in recruiting and was the sole reason for some of those recruits' interest(per various articles). He helped sign several of the key players in this class. What did the former Cincinnati staff do?
