Robert Hubbs SG TN '13

Our grandchildren will hate the name Kiffin. Maybe the Memphonians might not remember his name, but people from Tennessee will always know the name Kiffin.

Why, I would hate Dooley more than Kiffin. Kiffin isn't connected to UT and he only coached there for one season. Dooley on the other hand.....
- lost to a UK team without a QB
- no marquee victory
- had a losing record at LaTech (wasn't qualified for the job)
- can't keep his coaching staff together
- he's living off his father 's legacy
- people might of questioned LK antics but they supported him, some UT fans are hoping for a mediocre season just to see Dooley fired.

That's a changing line every year. Also, you alway have your busts. You'll have a top 10 guy just about evey year who's a bust, and a guy outside the top 50 who ends up a one and done.

Typically you have your upper echelon guys, the elite of the elite, thought to be one and dones. Like I said though, there's a different amount of those every year, and you always have your busts, so not really a right/wrong answer.

I agree. In a given year, you have a small handful of Freshmen that are obviously ready to go pro. Most of them are usually ranked as the top 5-7 prospects (and that's assuming the evaluations turn out to be accurate). The talent difference between prospects #3 and #8, for example, can be quite large even though there's only a few spots of separation when you rank them. In my opinion, being a one and done or even two and done player decreases dramatically after you get out of the top few prospects and continue to work your way down the list in a given class.

Wrong thread. Dooley bashing is two doors over.

Allow me to chime in on this one. Most people know I'm not really a Dooley fan, but I will cheer for him as long as he's coaching here. There are just not too many great things you can say about his coaching minus recruiting.

That being said, Kiffin is the worst between the two. His antics, trouble making, and royal douche abandonment outweighs his 7-5 season. Would I be saying this if he were still here? Maybe not. But he did what he did, and her is easily the most hated coach in UT history IMO.

The name of the player that commited to USCw is Jalen Ramsey and he is from the Memphis area I think he goes to Memphis east could be wrong though. He was a top 100 kid and plays safety position. Tennessee did want him bad and he was thought to be very high on their board.

About the only thing you got right was the name. Jalen Ramsey plays for Brentwood Academy near Nashville, and he is a cornerback.

I don't think we have to worry about UK in regards to Hubbs and Nichols. Both have already talked about relationship being an important factor and have even eliminated big time schools because a coach came late to the party. He's ours to lose. Same for Nichols IMO

If KY wants Hubbs, he will be tough to keep away. If he waits until spring to sign, it will be double-tough. Don't discount Cal for anyone. Everything's out the window if he comes calling.

I agree about not doubting Cal. Him and the Devil's truce are tough forces to break.

I just take Hubbs as a high character guy. Maybe that's because I want him in orange so bad. :)

He is a high character kid. However, that doesn't mean he won't go to UK because their coach is a snake. Anthony Davis is comparable from a character aspect with Hubbs. Things turned out pretty well for him.

In regards to Hubbs, if KY misses on guys we are in trouble, so hope they land their guys.

Also, he said he MAY wait till spring. Let's hope he decides after taking all his visits and visiting here to not wait and go ahead and committ.

Nichols committing early may help, we need someone to committ to get the ball rolling.

I hope they land them too. I think the longer this drags on, the more it diminishes our chances to land him. I still think we are in a great place after talking to him.

-deflating seasons lead to bad losses.....even the best coach in college football lost to Louisiana Monroe
-no marquee victory bc of no talent.....kiffin himself said that yr two would be much worse than his first here bc of the dropoff in talent
-everything I read about dooley talked about how good of a job he was building up the la tech program....overall record didn't show it but they were very competitive and had first bowl victory in yrs.
-replaced with better coaches
-I like that he has a good pedigree
- don't care what the fans that can't see how poor our talent had gotten believe or feel....that said this yr he gets his chance to prove whether he can coach or not
- I have no problem with kiffin at all and I would have done the same if I was coaching at usc and the Tennessee job came open.

Just don't need to put all the eggs in one basket. Kind of a tricky situation.

If true, visit/promises will put Hubbs in a holding pattern while he watches the dangling carrot. Meanwhile, Cal waits for his major dominoes to start falling.

Confirm scuttlebutt first.

Simply messageboard chatter. Unconfirmable (as far as I know).

But that's how I roll.

I can't imagine the meltdown on this board if we miss on all these players and end up with second tier recruits.

Supposedly Hubbs took a trip to Kentucky on Monday, per the latest scuttlebutt.

Yea they guy you're getting that from also says he heard Tennessee and Uconn are the 2 schools sticking out for Hubbs.

Uconn,seriously?

I'd definitely take what that dude says with a grain of salt.

UConn stuff is weird, but the Kentucky timing lines up with this rivals report.

If he said it prior to this report coming out ok, but someone could just as easily say he visited UCLA and Kansas Tuesday/Wednesday and since the rivals report is out itd coincide.

Not saying the poster is wrong, just pointing out he Is also sayin Uconn is one of the favorites, kind of just ruins any credibility.
