Robert Marve

You never know with this staff. This could be another Nuke-like commitment or they could have been misled. Time will tell.

I thought it was in an ESPN article... I can't find it again.

However, I could be wrong. Not stating it as fact. That comment from Hubbs just peaked my interest and I was working from memory.

I hope it is July. I want Marve.

Yeah I'm working from memory too but I don't recall anything about Marve trying to get in for summer school. I'm not too worried about him not having applied to UT yet. Plenty of time to work that out after he decides Friday.

I want Marve too. I think at this point he's deciding between the spread offense he's comfortable with (Purdue) versus the pro offense that will get him ready for the NFL (Tennessee). Hopefully his dad can talk some sense into him if the ESPN article is right and Marve is leaning towards Purdue now.

If he were smart he would look back at all the drafts and see where spread QBs have gone compared to pro-style.

It's a no-brainer! Tennessee all the way.

My guess is that the typical red tape would be pretty thin on this. :)

I'd say you can find an article from ESPN with a tone just as confident about Les Miles coaching the Wolverines.

I imagine ESPN would spin the story as 'another questionable pickup for Lane Kiffin' (with cutbacks to the Hood commitment) if Marve committed to UT, as opposed to eating crow.

You would be correct. If he goes with Purdue, they will spin it as a great pick-up for them.

If you look at the different stations UT and Purdue occupy in the football world, it is possibility for Marve to simultaneously be a great pickup for Purdue and a dubious one for UT.

UT is a football power and one of the top 15 programs in the country. Purdue is at best a top 40 team.

Drew Brees notwithstanding, a talent like Marve is an upgrade from what Purdue would typically expect. UT, on the other should expect to get a quarterback equal to or better than Marve for a full 4-5 years and without any baggage from a run-in with his former coach.

How have I missed FlVol53 posting on Volnation...I've never noticed the name (or it even being mentioned here) until today....

FlVol53 is as legit as they come. He told everybody that his sources said Nuke would be a Vol on NSD when NOBODY thought he would. He was one of the first (along with with Kevin Scott) to say that Bryce Brown would be a Vol. About a month ago he said a big time OL would be commiting to the Vols in a couple of weeks, and about 2 weeks later, Jose Jose was a Vol...

Don't forget how ESPN has been wrong numerous times on their "ticker" like:
Nukeese Richardson will be a Gator...
Calipari is staying at Memphis...
Brian Kelly will be the next UT head football coach...

The Marve's will not confirm it, but Robert has not made any movement to being admitted to Tennessee and it certainly feels like Schaad is right in reporting Purdue.

This is the very latest update from Brent Hubbs...

Also, James Bryant still says that he believes Marve will be a Vol. He has spoken to a couple of sources who have told him that Marve to UT is a done deal and another guy who says he thinks Marve will end up at Purdue...

I have no clue what is going on...

The only thing we can do is watch and wait. If we get him great, if we don't great and then move on to the next guy. It's not a big deal IMO.

Obviously, I was wrong on that one. I thought he would end up at Tennessee, but he is going to end up at Purdue unless something changes. I did understand today that he has never applied for school at Tennessee.

So what if he hasn't applied? Has he already applied to Purdue? Is that the basis for the report he's transferring there? The deadline for fall transfer applications is June 1st. Now that I think about it that deadline is probably fairly meaningless. Purdue has some 'priority' policy and I imagine UT has some exception policy also.

From Purdue's website - "*Priority deadline means that applications may still be accepted after the deadline if space remains available."

The current situation we are one of the worst D 1 teams in the nation at qb... almost anyone is an upgrade at this point and Marve has a ton of ability.

then i am sold....Marve will be a vol tomorrow
I cough up the Espn article of Marve to purdue as a media stimulant

Build suspense in TN's favor when he announces

Purdue told Marve if we don't have an answer by Friday we are pulling your scholly.

My guy is laughing...said RM is not going to Purdue has never been quoted saying he is going to Purdue. He will make a decision on Friday and it will be Tennesee.

He said Joe Schad has jumped the gun big time.

At the end of the day my guy could be getting played but he is pretty confident based on who he is speaking to.
