Roethlisberger

If a suit equals a credible accusation then anything said by anyone at anytime is credible accusation since all it takes to file a suit is the filing fee.

Be so kind as to enlighten me to the meaning of "another" since the McNulty case is still pending. Wouldn't this be the first thing he "dodged"?

If you want to split hairs, so be it. But he has been accused before whether on not it was a criminal case or civil. No where did I say a "credible" accusation, but it is still a accusation. Sounds like you are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

It's interesting how the DA worded it: "We don't have enough evidence to convince 12 jurors beyond a reasonable doubt." I got the impression that he thought Roethlisberger was guilty but it was too much of a "he said, she said" thing.

i got the same vibe. the da looked crushed because he knew something happened and he had to let what he may have felt was a guilty man walk free. that is just the vibe i got. ben may not have done anything, but check to make sure she was not hovering over a toilet sick, but when the da talked about rape and bleeding occuring it sounded like he was convinced it was the latter. he just could not prove it within a court of law. if ben did do something wrong it is a shame that justice can't be served. but time will tell if we will ever know if did do something wrong.

I hope it was worth it.

He can't do anything now without the Rooney's cutting his nuts off and handing them to him in a little napkin.

Santonio's dismissal was a distinct message.

At least the DA is self-aware enough to know that he's overmatched. He's a one-horse college town lawyer used to prosecuting DUI and weed cases; he'd be going up against the best criminal defense attorneys Roethlisberger's money could buy. There's no way he's winning any kind of a he said/she said case against those guys.

The Smoking Gun stuff is pretty much must-read. According to the victim's friends, one of Roethlisberger's bodyguards led the victim (who was hammered) into the back of the club, left her for Roethlisberger, and then minutes later she comes out crying and saying he'd raped her. I'm sure all the jocksniffers will talk about how she wanted it, she was just trying to get a payday, etc., but it's hard to read the documents the Smoking Gun has published and come away with the impression that the sex that took place was "consensual" in any meaningful way. Roethlisberger is garbage.

if these accusations are true i just wish there was more evidence to have brought it to trial. if he did conduct himself in the manner described, it is a crying shame that he is allowed to walk the streets as a free man. i am just utterly disgusted that cases like this keep happening. there are just so many people telling accounts that are virtually identical, yet he gets to walk free despite the lack of physical evidence. he is very lucky for that, but i can't help but side with the victim. i just find it hard to believe that all of these girls are just really good story tellers. maybe it is just all media concoction to bring down ben's image.

Two sides to this story

"Politics" Journal - Ludwig

Two of the more significant points:

THE ACCUSER NEVER REPORTED A RAPE

Both the DA and the police believe not only that there was not enough proof to win their case, but that THERE WAS NOT EVEN PROBABLE CAUSE TO ARREST.

i understand that there are two sides to every story, but with all of the other people saying that this has happened to, i just tend to lean towards them at this point. didn't he have some things like this happen to him in college as well? i think i read somewhere earlier that it happened twice to him in college, but the continuing trends just seem to point to something happening that was wrong. whether she was too hammered to know she was raped is a different matter, but his actions throughout his whole life should bring shame to his family and himself.

As big a douche as Ben is ....Is that really any worse than what you would typically hear in a bar?

no, but it is surely being spun as him trying to get his prey shat faced and then go after the weakest in the herd.

All the other people? I don't recall anyone from Ben's group saying a rape occurred including the off duty policeman and state trooper. Did any of the other bar patrons interviewed report anything? Where did you see those comments? I've just read the accusser's two companions made the claim. Even the accuser initially didn't say anything happened:

When the officer on the spot said "I need to talk to the alleged victim, not you," he asked the alleged victim if Roethlisberger had raped her. She said "No." When asked if the two had sex, she said "well, I'm not sure."

So two people out of at least 10 or 12 equal everyone even when the accuser isn't one of them initially?

Should Roethlisberger be pulling stunts like this? No and he should be read the riot act and suspended/fined. But in the sameway that being drunk of your backside and agreeing to go into a bathroom with a guy in bar doesn't mean you deserve to be raped neither does having mutual intimate contact mean you should be labeled a rapist by the woman after her friends tell her she was raped and she has regrets the next day when she sobers up.

I think he is saying that some others have accused Roethlisberger of rape or sexual assault in the past.

As a sidenote, there is a difference in sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape charges

One person has filed suit but made no effort to pursue criminal charges. She has also sued her former employer for breaking into her apartment, removing her computer to erase files and then returning it. She also is suing numerous former coworkers for conspiring against her.

sorry my bad; I will edit that; that was my intention though

it was more towards just how some people seem to throw around anything with the term sexual around it as having to be intercourse and rape

Am I the only one that thinks Roethlisberger won't take a snap for atleast the 1st 6 weeks of the season?

that is really all i was trying to get at in the statement that was questioned. All of the recent people popping out of the woodwork claiming possible misconduct in the past. i agree that he should not be classified as a rapist, because for all we know he is not. in a court of law he is not classified as such. if i was him i would not want to be falsely accused just like anyone else. but i felt like there is a strong possibility that he did do something wrong, but it might not ever be able to be proven. hence, my curiosity towards the whole thing.

too much about this case is pure shadiness and it has seemed to blossom in the past few days. that might just be all a pile of crap with people trying to further destroy his image. i had read in several other articles at least 2 or 3 of other instances in his past with similarities in terms of sexual misconduct. again not much information is known to verify any of them. so who knows? there may be truth behind them. i did read in another story and can't remember exactly where, that he had some college issues. it did not go into detail at all, but i did not hear anything or have knowledge of him prior to his nfl career. there may not be any truth to that either. i don't know. i am simply trying to make sense of all of the possible situations.

Odd how so many people were so silent for so long. Not that I'm implying some of these people may have ulterior motives of their own such as looking for their 15 minutes of fame or a financial settlement.

Well there was an instance of exactly the opposite, a woman in Las Vegas decided not to press charges or file suit because of the media storm that would ensue. And this woman in Georgia did not want to go to trial because of the fact that she would get her 15 minutes of fame.

If anything, that has been a deterring factor, or else Big Ben may be going door to door in his neighborhood by now.

I haven't read all of this, but did yall know the NFL has never suspended a white player under the player conduct policy? Thats unbelievable to me.
