Romney's VP pick

The reality is that such occurrences are the exception and not the rule. It is a media fantasy that the rich pay a lower tax rate. Even the guy on 60 minutes last night kept saying that was this case but it isn't true.

Get out of here with your facts. The average voter does not care about the facts or fact checking.

You keep making your argument based on logic, rational, facts, economics, and policy. I am not arguing that. I am simply trying to inform you how the average voter reacts to different things in the campaign. You ought to ask your freshman class how they feel about CEO's, their perceived "tax exceptions/tax loopholes", and their overall trust/mistrust of them. It might be eyeopening for you to immerse yourself into the average American electorate's mind.

Lecturing the professor...Are you sure you want to do that?

I'm a middle class voter and couldn't care less as long as it's not illegal. I take every deduction I can even though I've figured out that some really aren't worth it if you make a decent living at all. The tax system in this country sucks. I believe every elected official should be forced to do their own taxes with a pencil and a calculator and any that mess up are out of a job. We might get some changes made in a hurry

we have a system where almost half of all "tax-eligible" Americans do not actually pay anything at the end of the year (and many get more back). How is Romney doing any better than that?

1) You're not the average voter. You actually care and follow politics. Fact check, etc

2) The line in bold should tell you something.

I am not lecturing him. I am trying to tell him there is a profound difference between where he coming from and where I am coming from. We are talking about different sides of the same coin.

Just playing with you..... on this one I agree with you.
The average voter votes D or R or listen to a few soundbites to reach their decision.
As a whole, we have a very uninformed group voting.

I'm not disputing that. I'm saying that the tax return issue is nothing but a "look-over-there!" tactic by Obama and Co. Everyone who pays taxes does what Romney does to one degree or another.

I am not saying people don't. Romney is already perceived as being shady and unrelatable to the average person. Obama is only flaming the flames. If there is nothing politically catastrophic in his tax returns, then his advisers are morons. It is having a substantial negative effect in the polls.

Precisely. It's pretty pathetic actually.

I am just amazed at how bad the GOP has been since 2010. They had this election in the bag and blew it.

in addition to your numerous qualities, can we now add fortune teller to your resume?

a lot is going to happen between now and election day, but why declare the thing over before it really gets started?

I hope you are wrong. If people are so stupid (being polite) to think Obama relates to or understands middle income people we just need to scrap the system.

We have a man in the WH who has never held a private sector job, never had to concern himself with a P&L, payroll or prefoming in order to keep a job.

I would bet that most middle class families understand that Obama isn't for them. He says one thing then does another. He panders to the ignorant in that group. His base is not made up of middle class Americans though.

It's amazing so many people vote and don't even know what they're voting for. Sheep to the slaughter house, smiling the whole way.

LG will you please answer the question. Can you admit Ryan is a better VP pick than Biden?

Unless romney comes out and proposes real tax reform rather than altered rates, I'm about as unlikely to vote republican as it gets and I can easily admit that ryan is far better vp material than drunk uncle joe.

I feel the same way you do. I actually like Ryan the best out of the four.

Reform ala debt commission or something more reformy?
