Still no grapes and ain’t no nuts. But you can still buy a box of Grape Nuts. Kind of expensive though.

Grape Nuts was featured on the cereal edition of Food That Changed America on the History Channel on Sunday nights.

John Kellogg ran a sanitorium and he and his brother Will fought over the Kellogg cereal dynasty.

Did we ever figure out if Gainey is a walk-on?
I am sure it was posted on this board that he would be a walk on back when he announced that he had committed to Tennessee. I am sure he will get a NIL of some sort and I am also sure that his parents want him to be at Tennessee.

It def was stated that way. But there was also great debate about it afterwards. I still haven't seen anything official, so maybe I missed it.

No I don't. I'm just looking at where these transfers will play and where our roster is heavy loaded.
Just not sure why you'd even mention him as a possibility. You also referred to Edwards as one of our only two true PGs, which he's not. He's running behind Dilione on the scout team at PG and is playing more off the ball. He needs to work on his shot in the offseason, per Rick Barnes. Both of those hints suggest his future, if he has one at Tennessee, is at the SG spot. That alone would make him more likely, and reasonable, as a transfer candidate. Dilione is not an ideal PG, perhaps, but he can beat his man off the dribble, he can get to the rim, and he can operate as a facilitator and a scorer.

Im not saying I expect it, but based solely on our roster breakdown by position and the guys Barnes brought in, that is the position where we ha lve a couple too many guys..
Position isn't that well defined in reality though. On the court you have schemes, and you need pieces in place to make those schemes click.

Last year our only true PG went down and the offense sputtered. Part of that is our lack of shooters made us heavily dependent on the pick-and-roll actions through Zeigler and Santi coming off off-ball screens all over the court. A solid traditional PG type is necessary for that kind P&R scheme, and losing ZZ left us with only screening Santi as an option.

Even though Knecht is a wing and we have a bunch of those, it can give us a 4/5-out spacing look with ZZ/Santi/Knecht/Ledlum and even Aidoo who can step out a bit. If one of the new guys and/or Gainey can be a relatively consistent spot-up threat, it gives you even more flexibility.

All that to say, we didn't get another PG, but the guys that we've added have also made a traditional PG less of a necessity to get something out of our offense.

I didn’t remember Grape Nuts in that episode, but I wasn’t paying close attention. I remember something about Post Toasties and a Kellogg brotger came up with Corn Flakes. And I think the Kellogg brother that wasn’t the doctor started the company called Kellogg’s and Dr Kellogg claimed they were successful because of his name being used (and the brother was also named Kellogg). Weird history.

BTW, Cocoa Pebbles for the win.

Yep CW Post was a patient at the Sanitorium and he stole the recipe to create Grape Nuts and start the Post company. Dr. Kellogg refused to sell the cereal outside of the Sanitorium so the younger brother Will started the Kellogg's cereal company. They fought over it the rest of their lives. Dr. Kellogg lost the battle in court because he had accepted money from Will for the rights to the cereal. And the fact that all the advertising creating "the brand" was done by Will.

So the guy that started Grape Nuts was kind of nuts.
