I don't think there is anything wrong with giving condolences for the person and yet glad they no longer hold any political power. I despise the likes of schiff, pelosi, nadler, barry etc.. I wouldn't want them to be my local dog catcher but I wouldn't take joy in them having a brutal disease

Here's why it's fact and not my opinion.

Elijah Cummings dies (A)

As a result, he is no longer in politics (B)

You celebrated B, but it couldn't have happened without A in this case. Therefore, you are indirectly grateful for A because of B.
