I commend you on that, and it sounds like you actually have thoughtfulness to contribute. I’m a fairly liberal person in general, but I own dozens of guns myself and you will not hear me advocating for restricting anything regarding firearms without ample evidence that it is clearly and undeniably beneficial in terms of reducing preventable deaths. I’m not in favor of restricting “assault weapons” at all, it’s flat out a dumb idea.

I think it is the control over the flow of water that is the issue.

Incorrect.
The problem is a busted pipe in his analogy. That is why water is on the floor to begin with. The only thing he mentioned is turning the water off. When in reality that creates a bigger problem given the need.

Sure collecting guns can be a hobby. Having to shoot someone in self defense isn’t. I can collect stamps as a hobby but putting one on a piece of mail to have delivered isn’t. Regardless it’s irrelevant when we have a fundamental right that SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

You're right. The first step to take when fixing a busted pipe is to turn the water on full blast and pray that god will find a way to fix it. Because that has worked wonders in the past.

A busted pipe is what led to the uncontrolled flow of water. Cutting off the flow of water is an obvious step to take when fixing the busted pipe. Once the pipe is fixed allowing you once again to adequately control the flow of water, you turn the water back on.
How detailed do you guys need it to be spelled out?
