SEC Expansion (merged)

Maybe rotten was a poor choice of words but it just seems like that program has been in decline for the past few years.

Because of their location, they always have a chance at a return to national prominence. If I'm Slive and HAVE to expand, Miami is honestly one of my first choices because of that upside. When the Canes are a 10-win team, they get Texas/SC/Florida type ratings.

well they been bad for 3 years ppl...you saw the potential they showed last year..i havent been this excited for miami football in a while to be honest haha

Not to mention I've noticed an increasing trend of top-100 type recruits coming from S. Carolina each year.

Clemson will get you more interest all the way through the Piedmont crescent from D.C. to Atlanta. I do think it would hurt Tennessee's recruiting though as would Va Tech. All in all, good additions to the conference.

i hate the expansion...its bad for everyone in the long run..miami is a little school..it might not survive.. :(

I wonder if that is because the Miami area is just an extension of the Northeast and gets special attention from the sportswriters.

I can see the upside but I think they have an equal potential to go the other way.

Even HS age kids these days knows what it is to have that U swag. Miami's era of dominance still has an effect. All it will take is another Davis or JJ and they are back to their winning ways, I'd guarantee it. Miami is easily the biggest "sleeping giant" in the game right now.

I hate that this is happening...geographically it is just a mess...I hope they at least rename the conferences ( Pac 10 in particular ).

Cannot imagine Nebraska in the playing in the Big 10...so weird, even more so with Texas and Oklahoma in the Pac-10...it is just weird to even say that.

It appears that the SEC has already lost out in the expansion sweepstakes.

Just google mapped to Sooner stadium 890 miles straight drive on 40 west. I hope Slive pick em up.

Their uniforms/color scheme are among the worst in the country and I can't imagine how terrible an away trip to Stillwater Oklahoma would be. I'm all for any combination of Texas, aTm, and Oklahoma... but would rather have Baylor or TTech than okie state though...regardless of T.Boone's money.

Yeah, because Waco and Lubbock are vacation destinations. The SEC shouldn't remotely consider adding any of that second tier dreck.

concur, in part. I agree that neither of them bring anything to the table, but having them might be sticking points if we try to bring Texas and aTm along. Oklahoma State is eqully as terrible as TTech and Baylor IMO, but bringing them in doesn't have a collateral benefit.

Guy from Orangebloods is saying that the SEC has extended offers to Texas and TA&M

I am sure that this is on here, but I have not had to catch up in the last 2 hours and thought I would throw it our here just in case. Saw it via twitter.

Well I would think we would extend an offer even if we knew they weren't going to join...

I agree. Just saw that and thought I would share.

I remember someone saying the other day that Slive told a radio station in Texas that we were not after any Texas schools.
