SECNetwork Coverage Info Please

Well CSS is going off the air if it's not already and there was also one PPV game every year forced on us. SECN is also great for out of town Vol fans who would otherwise have missed the games on regional TV.

CSS went off the air months ago because of the SEC Network. Before the Alabama Network, I mean the SEC Network, many VOL fans could watch every Tennessee game (excluding PPV game) without having to pay additional money to watch Tennessee football games. Now, Tennessee is getting bumped almost off the air by the SEC Network in favor of Alabama even inside the state of Tennessee.

Not sure if you ever got an answer about U-verse but I have it and I'm pretty freaking pleased about it after reading this thread. I have the main SEC network and three alternates all in HD and listed in the onscreen guide.

To answer your question about multiple HD streams I can only say that we have 3 TVs ATM and can watch HD on all three simultaneously. I know several years ago when U-verse first rolled out and bandwidth was limited we could only watch HD on one television at a time which was really annoying so we went back to DirecTV but that's no longer an issue. I think that if you call they can tell you how much bandwidth they can push to your house and that will tell you how many HD streams you can run simultaneously while also running the internet, etc. Go Vols!

I switched from Uverse to Comcast about a year ago and outside of Comcast's on demand service, it was a bad move.

is an alt showing up on different TV cables or for Dish ? isn't Dish the official network for the Vols ?
Yes, the alternate is showing up for Dish channel 596. I set my DVR already. As to the second part Dish is the official satellite provider of the Vols. Their CEO is a booster I believe.

You realize the SEC Network is cheaper than paying for the 1 PPV, right? It sucks that it's not in HD, but neither was the ppv.

Awesome!!! Thank you for the info!!

The line from the pole to my house ran through my back yard, was building a pool and Att wouldn't move it to the pole out front where the Comcast line comes from.

Ok. Thanks. Wanted to make sure was not an issue with quality. I've never had Uverse. Only Comcast and DirecTV, so want to make sure product is high quality.

IMHO the Uverse DVR tech is way more user friendly and better than Comcast. A true whole house dvr where Comcast isn't.

SIAP.

checked my lineup today (comcast). Its now showing 2 alternate channels. SECNA and SECNB. Both are showing the logos for all the sec teams. I didnt see them last night. My regular SECN is channel 740. The alternates for me are 748 and 749

Same here. Now I have three SD SECN channels. How is that more efficient that two HD and two SD? Stupid ass comcast

Comcast has good internet service but that is about it. DTV sports package is great.

...Saturday's game between the Tennessee Vols and Arkansas State won't be shown in HD on Comcast.

The noon game is one of three on the alternate SEC Network on Saturday.

Alex Horwitz, vice president for public relations in the Big South Region, which includes Tennessee, explained Comcast's reason for not carrying the alternate SEC Network in HD.

"Our primary goal was to make SEC Network overflow channels available as widely as possible to our customers across the South," Horwitz wrote in an email. "Carrying the overflow channel in HD format would not have been the most effective use of our bandwidth — which we strategically reserve for routine product upgrades, new programming content and the latest services for our customers."

Oh, BS. (Not you, VolStrom.) If they can show Love It or List It and Man Vs Food in HD, they can show the game.

I don't know how PR people can look at themselves in the mirror to shave each morning. :zeitung_lesen:

We were better off watching Tennessee and SEC football games BEFORE the SEC Network came into existence. I could watch every SEC team play every week without having to spend more money to buy the SEC Network channel.

Now everyone is searching for alternate channels to watch a Tennessee football game in SD. I could watch Tennessee football on CSS in HD.

We may be having the same problem when basketball season begins.

Wrong and wrong.

With the Network, the annual SD PPV game goes away. You couldn't have watched those 14 PPV games (1 per school) without paying extra.

CSS was not available to anyone outside the southeast, so those games wouldn't be seen by people that can get them now that the SEC Network exists.

This is currently planned to be the only week the alternate channels are used for football this season. There are no plans to use them for basketball season.

I never paid for a PPV game, so it is not cheaper paying a PPV fee to watch UT beat the crap out of teams like Chattanooga and their ilk. But other than the PPV games, we could watch every SEC game every week before the SEC Network came into being, at no additional cost.

They should change the SEC Network name to the Alabama Crimson Tide Network.

You're in Peoria!? Me too! If DTV doesn't have the game will it be available at Buffalo Wild Wings or somewhere like that?

Well they open at 11 thats when it starts - so if its not on there (they have Direct anyway) then its a wasted trip - I guess I will just watch it online - unless Deerpark is right about the channel popping up at gametime on comcast. Whether these cable companies know it or not there are quite a few SEC fans in Peoria and the area.

Those CSS games were on Gameplan - so I did get to watch them in Illinois - this alt channel is not on Comcast, so apparently online is the only way -- so its not good for out of SEC footprint fans that have Comcast and some others.

Just got off the phone with DTV, and they don't have the alternate channel as of yet. Supposedly it will be added to the lineup at some point but as of today it's not on there. Surely with the volume of callers for this problem will have them add it by the weekend.

Edit: Just found this surfing the interweb.
