Severe Weather Thread

My mom has a friend that lives in Ringgold. We were going to go help her go through the pile that is her house and try to find anything to save. She called and said we could not come. That the police were not letting people in because they were using search dogs to find more bodies. She said that 5 people died within a 1/2 mile radius from her.

My grandparents live in Rossville. They went to Ringgold and basically said downtown was leveled. It also took them 3 hours to get back home.

Tell them thanks for getting in the way of the Search and Rescue teams. I'm sure those guys really appreciated it.

If they were there to help, which it doesn't sound like since it took them 3 hours to get back, then sorry.

I have found out in the last couple hours that a woman I used to work with was killed in Apison. And my husband works with a guy who lost his three month old son in Cleveland. I'm having a hard time handling this right now. A really hard time.

Hang in there VG. The stories are bad but I'm seeing some real caring and community going on down here. It's very heartening.

If that came across bad I apologize, but it just really irritates me that people can drive around and gawk at the damage, but won't get out to help.

Ok, well if you need a place to stay or anything you can come out to Athens. I finally got power up all day today this morning and now my internetz and tvz is up now.

Glad you're back on.

I'm sure you're seeing what we are seeing down here. Devastation but real coming together of the community.

I appreciate the offer Bearcat. I had neighbors I've Nvr met offer me a place to stay yest when they came down to my end and saw my house. I actually stayed n the house last nite. All nite long u cld hear stuff falling down.

First time I have been able to get online or communicate in any way. Family and property are fine, we are just dealing with no power. The family and I packed up and went to St. Louis to stay with in-laws for the weekend until power is restored.

I just got through looking at footage of the storms and damage. Wow.

Everybody stay safe.

If anyone has seen the images of ringgold georgia or know where its at please continue praying. Just spoke with the police officer who lives next door and he said they aren't even showing the worst part. He told me some pretty gruesome stories he saw. They found a little girl three miles from her home. Father said they were turning to the bathroom and when he turned around to grab her she was gone. Also said there will be more fatalities announced. They've only announced bodies that have been identified and there are several more that haven't yet. My heart goes out to these families.

The worst I saw was a lady with a pine branch through her chest. I haven't been able to sleep right since...

Thanks for the notes guys. So sorry to hear these stories, I feel fortunate I can leave the state and stay with family. We will be back on Monday, if anybody needs help with anything PM me and we can get in touch. I can help with clean up or a place to stay, just let me know.

I am thankful that all my friends and family made through the storms safe. The tornado that wiped out Rainsville AL passed directly over my house right before dropping out and ripping Rainsville apart. Another one, which I have video of, had went by about a half mile from my house earlier. Several of my childrens schoolmates have lost everything. While I feel extremely blessed to have been spared, my heart is heavy over the massive devastation to our neighbors. The death toll in Rainsville last I heard was over 35. Those of you who know the words of prayer please remember us. I am only able to get on because we have come to Georgia for a couple of days and the motel we are staying at has a computer for guests. I don't know how long it will be before I am able to get power and internet at home to get back on VN, so please pray for those of us in the war zone. Bye for now and to all my other fellow VNers in Bama, Georgia and Tennessee who are living through this nightmare, remember this "Sunshine always follows rain" :hi:

WRCB reported a couple in Chattanooga died from carbon monoxide poisoning from the generator they were using to keep their power on.

I worked with a guy a few years back that had the same thing happen to his family. He was running it inside and put it next to a window. Some people do not think about it because they think it is safe. Very sad

Yah mania, you need anything, im not too far, and I've gotten pretty good with a chainsaw just let me know.
