Shaka Smart Not Interested in TN Job And is Willing to Wait for "Perfect Job"

They do indeed. But it's hard to tell how much of this run is coaching and how much is getting hot from deep at the right time.

You're very well right about that. I guess we'll find out if they can keep up this competitive play during this half.

Look at who they've played. Sure it's nice he's in the elite 8 but they haven't beaten a great team

No, they have just beaten the four that they have played in the tourney. That is the only goal, right?

Smart is too smart to come to UT.

So I'm looking at VCU shooting 44% from deep in the tournament compared to 36% in the regular season and thinking this is a ridiculous streak of hot shooting more than amazing coaching.

They are getting open a lot. Dunno how much of that is good game planning though

My first question still stands. Why is everyone all over Frank?? There's better out there, IMO.

Not many can walk into a young mans living room and say I coached Jason Kidd in the NBA. These other coaches cant say that. Frank has connections and is a very good coach or he would not be on the Boston Celtics staff.

Im just not impressed with Smart, he has had a lucky run IMHO.

Bunch of folks on here want to be the one who said I got it right with an up and comer

You're getting a little ahead of yourself, VCU might actually pull off a win today against Kansas if they continue to play like they have in the first half. I still believe we need to give Shaka a call regardless of how this shakes out. He is beginning to prove himself at VCU. He is young, energetic, and would most likely keep our recruiting class intact. Along with keeping Harris and Hopson here at Tennessee. He is a risk, no doubt, but could certainly be worth the reward in the end.
All hires are risk, despite what some of the experts say. The key is recruiting. I believe that Smart can be a better recruiter than any of the people that have been mentioned for this job.

VCU is definitely shooting lights out from the 3, but I do like how Shaka is urging his team to keep up the fast pace to keep momentum on their side. He's not letting his team quit.

I don't know how to feel... These are mainly Anthony grants players and Shaka smarts coaching... Dont know where his success comes from, Anthony's players or his coaching.

I think its a bit of both. There's obviously some talent there, but Shaka's energy is what they're feeding off of. Shaka Smart got this team ready to play, and even though they're tired which is easy to see, they're still playing hard because Shaka is urging them too. Im liking what im seeing so far.

Shaka can flat out coach. He may not come here, but he's going to get a big-time job and will be very successful. I believe he will land at Mizzou. They already have the roster to fit his style of play.

He's a flavor of the moment guy... He could be great, but only two of the tourney wins so far were over single seed teams, one was over G'Town who was likely very overrated as the rest of the Big East was, the other was over Purdue who may have been overseeded, but was a terrible matchup against VCU.

If VCU plays a solid game against KU, then I will start buying him.

Time to buy him

I'm starting to like this guy. You come in as an 11 seed and everyone says you don't even belong and you get your kids to play lights out and reach the final four?? Is he really uninterested in us?

I agree Shaka has won me over. Watching how much he gets into the game, and never let his VCU team quit even when they were getting tired says alot to me. His team just beat a 1 seed Kansas team that averaged over 80 points a game, and got held to 61. His team was very well prepared. Its time we make a move on Shaka.

I'd say Smart's stock just rose dramatically...after watching today's game i"d be fine with him as our coach
