UT is trying to find the most successful coach they can to run the bball program and most see Smart as not quite ready (or not enough info). I would rather look at his body of work over the last 2 years than focus on 3 games.

Why the hell would anyone waste their time writing about coaches that weren't contacted for jobs? Are there going to be roughly 300+ articles on ESPN tomorrow about all the D1 coaches that haven't been contacted for the UT job?

Has he stated he is interested in any of the other openings?

No coach still in the tourney is going to comment that he is interested in openings at other schools until his team is out.

There is no real reason for him to come out and say he isn't interested either. It's not like he has been linked to the job.

If I was going to pick up a coach with a year a two experience ... I would take Mack over Smart.

I just feel like inexperience is the only legitimate knock people can have against the guy right now. I think he has done a pretty decent job in two years. Doesn't mean he is right for Tennessee though

Your statement just doesnt make sense. You threw it out there as fact as a cheap shot at pearl. I called you on it and this is the best you could come up with? I can produce several articles to the contrary and yet im the one wrong here?

I haven't heard anyone say we can't fill Bruce Pearl's shoes. Whether YOU want to admit it or not, it's going to be tougher than YOU think to do it. Certainly there are plenty of coaches out there AT LEAST as good as Pearl from an Xs and Os standpoint, but very few who will invigorate the program in the manner in which Pearl did from a PR standpoint. Those things are important too. Pearl did his thing for the new facilities, so that area isn't nearly as important now, but you better believe we need someone who will embrace the UT traditions as comfortably as Pearl. JMO

Several articles citing Chris Low's assertion that Memphis was prepared to talk to Bruce Pearl. They may very well have been prepared to talk to him, but they didn't.

Fine, you guys don't know that he was either. I will stick to the people that I trust on this issue, and you guys can dig up old Chris Low articles that mean absolutely nothing and we can all be happy.
