Shaka Smart Not Interested in TN Job And is Willing to Wait for "Perfect Job"

UT is trying to find the most successful coach they can to run the bball program and most see Smart as not quite ready (or not enough info). I would rather look at his body of work over the last 2 years than focus on 3 games.

Agree. Glad to hear that he's not interested (which is to say we're not interested).

Look, Pearl was never "officially" offered the Memphis job but the necessary boosters (who are more involved than the AD in bball coaching decisions) negotiating details of a contrat with him. He basically took that info back to Knoxville and said "I want this here or im leaving"

"guys, my people tell me pearl was never offered any jobs...i laugh at people that brag about sources."

Big difference between formulating an opinion based on news articles and folks whose opinions I trust and telling people my buddy works in the AD, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that

Utter BS.

Oh, sources in the AD. Awesome, I totally have every reason to believe some guy that talks to me on the internet.

Whatever. I don't care whether you believe me or not. I don't know how much my buddy actually knows about it, he just said Pearl's name was being thrown around over there. That means they had interest. You said there was no interest by Memphis. Not formally offering a job doesn't mean there wasn't any interest

I totally don't know what I am talking about, but here is a nice one.

Tennessee denies Memphis talks with Pearl, athletic director - USATODAY.com

What do you think Mike was going to say.So this makes it not so huh? My evidence to dispute you is ole Mike ponied up after this didn't he? Would he have done this if there was nothing at all to it?

Here's just as good evidence to the contrary...

News Feed - April 2, 2009 - Press Break

Memphis' 'wow' coaching list could include Pitino or Pearl

i fully understand, you choosing to believe your sources and he choosing to believe his is like night and day. you're a smart, connected person who thinks stuff out and he's a dumb dumb who lies about sources. got it.

per Rob Lewis. I'd say it's pretty easy to not be interested in a job when they're not interested in you.

Well no matter what some of the old folks on here who thinks we had a shot at this guy had interest him. So now they can just draw a line through another name that has came out and said no thanks.

I wouldnt read to much into this. He isn't going to come out and say he is interested before the game. I would assume every team that is looking for a coach has at least hasentertained the idea of him being their coach.

As stated earlier, it is very easy to turn down a job you were never contacted about.

It's also funny (directed at homefry) to think you're a national powerhouse when you're best school in your conference 9 outta 10 years (Mempiss) and expect to win the NCAAs each year. Cheating SAT's and all... :)

Not as funny as a Tennessee fan talking trash about cheating. We at least win when we cheat.
