not like they beat a #1 seed to get there... didn't they beat a #13 seed to advance?
He also happened to shred three teams in a high-pressure situation recently, which doesn't hurt. I think he has star potential, and even in the situation we're in, I'd rather take someone with huge upside than someone who's been plodding nicely along somewhere and doing three-and-a-half star work.
True, true, but you never know when that diamond in the rough is going to be priceless, like say a Coach K. It might be wise to consider an up-n-comer with unknowon sactions pending. You can always kick him to the curb when they are over and hire the coach you really want, that is if the up-n-comer doesn't wow you with his performance.
Just to clarify how much of a diamond in the rough Coach K was: 73-59 (and final season 9-17) at Army, then 38-47 first three years at Duke. We would have fired him before it all started falling into place. (Incidentally, when I was complaining about the Dooley hire, THIS is what people should have thrown at me.)
I'm back to: I like what Shaka's team looks like on the court; I believe that with him you'll get good results immediately and great results soon after.
I've missed where you walked through his team, being one of the most talented in the CAA, yet finishing 4th. Doesn't compute.
In the end, he's as 3 happy as any coach in America, including Donovan and K. That can work for a couple of games, but will lose far more than you should win if you're talented. If you have no talent, it's a very good plan.

You beat me to it.I'm not sure including K and Donovan in your post illustrates your point too well.

Do you find it worthwhile to say stupid stuff on an opponents' board?
