Shooter in Chattanooga

Exactly. There's never an argument from that side about stopping these terrorist, its always us having a gun to defend yourself isn't the answer.

Since he lazily groups me in with liberals I will say your statement is an absolute lie. The actions many champion as a fix for this "terrorist" issue are just making it worse

1) I'm not a liberal. Just want to help since you seem to need simple labels to make it easier

2) the safety of my family is paramount. If they are the ones that could possibly be hurt by an action them I will side with not doing it

I understand the family part, I have a wife and 3 daughters. My thoughts as their safety coming first is, why our government knows these guys are here, they know isis sent threats a few weeks ago saying this would happen, yet done nothing. As a matter of fact, they said the the threat wasn't serious. I want my family protected, so I'm more ticked that our government does nothing, not even call it terrorism, than someone defending their self. Here, you have 4 families who lost a loved one unlike you and I, because our government failed to allow these guys proper protection after being told by the terrorist that it would happen. That's what has some folks bothered.

I'm not calling you a liberal, but I don't see how our guys being able to protect themselves are a problem. I think it would've been much better that the terrorist had been killed than 4 soldiers. That isn't a worse case, it would've been better.

I don't know what the hell you are but that sure fits the liberal line of thinking.

If you think a terrorist being the only person with a gun makes your family safer I don't know what to tell you.

I will never understand liberal thinking. Lets don't shoot back, someone might get hurt.

I see his point about wanting his family to be safe. I just don't feel as though the Marines being armed would have put his family in anymore danger than they would have already been in.

I do too. I have a wife and kids and their safety would be my biggest concern too but people like Abdulazeez need to be dealt with swiftly and severely. You cant sit and do nothing out of fear. That's what they want.

You are correct. Fear and spreading their message is what they are after.

I never said that and you don't seem to have a very firm grasp on what constitutes a liberal. What I'm saying is more random bullets flying thru the air puts my family in more danger. It doesn't matter who is doing the shooting at that point

But I don't feel as though Marines shooting would really be random. They are trained for that sort of thing.

And never miss?

One of the first rules is to know what is behind your target. If that happens to be my family are they more or less safe?

Active duty not being armed is absurd.

If someone wants to fight badly enough then a fight will happen. Ignoring that fact just results in a beatdown.

I understand that, I really do but the risk of doing nothing far out weighs the risk of of at least not attempting to gun these bastards down. Places like this where they know there are no weapons are easy targets.

I never said that they wouldn't miss. That was not my intention. My intention was that Marines being armed wouldn't put the family in any more danger than they already were in.

To me this is more of an issue of the military men and women being able to protect themselves against an attack then it would be about putting a family in more danger.

If you think about it when the police respond to the call they are going to come in with weapons drawn anyways.

It seems like he is saying if he is in the parking lot with his family (or any innocent bystanders) and this situation occurred, if the marines were armed and firing back, stray bullets could have injured or killed even more people.

To this, I say, it is all based on the perspective angle you are in. If the terrorist shoots at the marines and kills them, and then turns on the civilians (specifically him and his family) I'd imagine then he would want to have a gun. But yes, if I see a person shooting toward others away from where I am, then I would get my family safe before I myself went after him/her.

Oh brother, let's just get rid of all weapons, knives, clubs, pitchforks, swords, etc. then in our make believe dream world we will sit down at gum drop lake and talk through all of our problems. Join reality, they have guns yet we cannot.

Not even close to the point but feel free to make more useless posts. It really adds to the discussion

I've never been about taking guns. I was simply challenging the idea that more people shooting makes a situation safer and have been labeled a liberal gun grabber for even suggesting such an idea . Care to address that at all?

Graduate of Red Bank...my alma mater. That's the same recruiting center I enlisted from. Too much familiarity on this one. Supposedly a sweet kid until he took that 7 month pilgrimage to Jordan.

So now Westboro Baptist Church is apparently going to work its way to Chattanooga to protest at the funerals...

Excuse me, I'm about to be sick...or pissed...very pissed.
