Actually jones said peterman looked the best in practice before the florida week. And the only reason i believe worley won the job is because he didnt throw picks in the fall practices.

Well dude when you don't cause turnovers that's a big deal in the coaches eyes :p

I mentioned this in another thread, but one bad half of football does not mean you suck. Peterman may never be a good quarterback, but you can't tell that from the UF game. As I also mentioned in another thread, see Erik Ainge vs LSU in 2005.

Ainge analogy not inspiring a lot of confidence. I guess he's better than the slop we've seen though.

You do realize Ainge played most games his freshman year and was a good QB well before his soph slump? How does this relatw to Pete?

True, but his good week of practice did not translate to efficient play on the field though. BTW, I am not saying that JW is the long term answer because he obviously has his faults and shortcomings too; however, the offense is better when JW is on the field.

If we get up by a comfortable margin, we'll see a frosh tomorrow.

Whoever is ahead of the other is 1 snap away from being the guy, so I'd imagine the coaches would like to give him SOME game reps, if only to get a sense of the speed of the game.

I'm sure most coaches would. Those 2 are PROVEN QBs. Worley + game manager + fewer mistakes > Peterman + no experience + TOs.

I just think you refuse to eat crow :p

Im not saying peterman is better now id say there about even but given worley is a Jr and pete is a sop id start peterman. The future is what you work towards this year and worley is not it

I'm about 99% sure Ferguson will get some reps this weekend. You have to get him in-game reps as soon as possible. You don't want Worley turning an ankle against GA, Bama, SC, etc., and putting him in for the first time in that type situation. I don't want Worley turning his ankle or any other injury, but the possibility is always there.

Worley will start and play most of the game if not all depending on the score barring an injury. If the game is well in hand, bUTch will play the next man up. The starting qb will be taking some hits in the next few weeks, so there is really no choice. I just hope the game plays out in a way that allows UT to get it together before the meat of the schedule is here.

Yes he looked WAY BETTER then worley before he injured his hand.

You must mean from the WKU game because no one with two functioning eyes and a brain in a non vegetative state could possibly believe Peterman and his 5 yards, legs in molasses QB option run, and picks could have possibly be better.

I'm sure we will see one of the freshman tomorrow. If we get a good lead early, and with peterman's injury, we should see ferguson. I can't wait to see what the 2 fr can do.it can't be any worse than peterman's play vs uf.

He had a 15 yard pass droped a 8 yard pass droped and a screen pass droped

Worley looked much more at ease when he came in off the bench the second half of the gator game. With Peterman out, more than likely he doesn't feel as much pressure to perform. He seemed to play better being more comfortable. If he comes out loose for the usa game, he will put up big numbers until a freshman gets reps.

I don't think any of the QBs are "out of it" yet. I see it playing out Saturday as Worley starting (obviously) until the score margin becomes comfortable, and then Ferguson will trot out in the second half. Because, as it's been said time and again, a true freshman is one play away from being your #1 QB. I think Ferguson gets reps to see live game speed. I'll be surprised if we don't see him.

I'll also be surprised if we do see Dobbs at this point. I just think he gets a redshirt, and I don't think that's a bad thing. If Ferg tanks his time, Dobbs might then be a possibility.

But again, that's just my slightly educated opinion.

How many snaps had Peterman taken before his finger broke? How many snaps did he take after he broke it? How many bad plays, turnovers before the injury; and especially, how many bad plays after?

Yes, first start jitters against one of the top NCAA defenses and against Florida in the Swamp, then ... broken bone. I can't say Peterman did anything to impress me, quite the contrary. The most unimpressive thing he did was to try to continue to play with that kind of injury. Of course he wanted to play.

As for Dobbs and Ferguson, very few 18 year old freshman can play D1 fb against pretty much full grown men who are 21 to 23 years old with 2 or 3 years in the weight room. There's a few that can, but not many, and the likelyhood of injury is high. It's the very reason all those years ago the college programs instituted had the Freshman "B-Team" and the Soph, Jr, Sr "Varsity" teams. Scholly limits did away with that.

But exceptional athletes should be able to jump right in once they learn the system.
How well have Dobbs or Ferguson absorbed CBJ's offense? How well do they read SEC defenses? Which one has that exceptional 'natural' talent or works harder than anyone else? Only time will tell. There's no gazing ball to peer into and devine the future. As for me, I like Dobbs only because I think he may have the better head on his shoulders but that don't mean it'll translate to the field.

I do trust the coaches.

But how many times have you seen a back-up QB be forced into a game and he turns out to be THE GUY? No one -- not even the coaches -- knew it, because for some guys the switch never flips on until they are in a real game. I think that's what all of us are hoping for.

It's sort of like buying a lottery ticket and expecting to win. But considering our QB play so far this season, you can't blame fans for hoping. We're desperate for a miracle.

it worked ok for fla.... I know everybody but us...lol

You didnt convince anyone last weekend and you wont this weekend. Peterman was not the better QB that day, that is a scientific fact. I'm not saying he isn't a good QB but the Florida game was a disaster. It was the kind of disaster that would make most people question decisions in their lives. It was the kind of disaster that would translate to being fired from your job in the real world.

one of them will be getting prepared to take over should Worley go down. that may lead to one getting reps this Saturday. depends on how the game goes.

Neither are ready to get snaps at this point. If Worley went down and one had to take over the offense would look worse than last week's first half. Not a good running game and inexperience at WR not a good mix with true freshmen QBs that are not ready to play. Would be really, really ugly..

From reading the VQ tea leaves it sounds like Ferguson is that guy and they want to redshirt Dobbs if at all possible.

I look for them to continue to try and win with Worely if at all possible.
