I tried to tell y'all that we should’ve been cheering for LSU against Alabama because LSU would lose down the road and take a 3rd loss. LSU lost to Florida, as I said was likely, and now has 4 losses.

Now Alabama only has 2 and will get in over Tennessee in spite of head to head. Because they’re Alabama.

Does it make sense now D4H?
The game that hurt us most was Ole Miss beating Georgia. If UGa wins there, Ole Miss is out.

Say what you will, but the guy has done a darned good job considering a young qb and a brutal schedule. They didn't mail it in. They've fought. If I'm being honest, I like their chances for next season a lot more than ours. Lagway will be a load. Hope we can say the same about Nico next year.
Nico played fine last night. Our struggles really start at WR. I don't think Pope has done a good job of developing anyone yet

Boise State and the CFP selection is going to screw everything up. Just wait for it. Boise State wins their conference, they are in by default.....and will be promptly shown the door when they play anyone in the CFP. BYU was a mirage. Penn State is a mirage. Indiana is a mirage. 4 of the 12 "getting in" are not the caliber of a National Champion. Period.

It won’t be a popular opinion, but I have concerns about Pope. In his first season, Hyatt won the Bilitenkoff and the WRs performed great.

In 2023, the WRs under performed. Keyton regressed. Thornton didn’t live up to expectations. McCoy even seemed to regress some (drops) before getting hurt.

This year’s WR group has severely underperformed. The talent is there. This might be the group that has the greatest distance between performance and potential.

Will Heupel look at making a move there?

I'm not sure they want to send a message of punishing teams that get to a conference title game and rewarding teams they beat out to get there. That would set a terrible precedent and would tarnish those games, which the powers that be desperately want to keep because of the revenue. To me, if you're in this silly playoff before a conference title game, the result should only affect your seeding - it should be treated like a post season game. If not, just eliminate the game itself.
It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened though. It happened to Georgia just last year. They entered the game undefeated and didn’t make the playoffs. It shouldn’t hurt a team as much as a regular season game but it has to count for something

We will get in with Bama in the end

Bottom line, if Ole Miss wins their last 2, and Alabama beats Auburn, we're probably done. Only other chance would be Georgia losing to Ga Tech, but that's not likely. And, of course, we need to beat Vandy convincingly.

Nothing wrong with what you said. Just look at the production since he took over. That group has regressed big time.

This nails it, and is why I hate the playoff system. There shouldn't be automatic bids, and there should be some sort of computer program to determine rankings, not some ridiculous "committee" of people, all with biases and axes to grind.

My problem from the beginning has been making the Power 4 conferences "equal", as if a P4 win or loss is a P4 win or loss. The Big 10 is treated as the SEC's equal despite there only being two legit championship contenders, two pretenders beating up on pathetic schedules, and another 14 teams that are garbage. And yet, that conference will get four teams in unless IU is blown out next weekend, which I'm betting won't happen.

The only way to do a fair playoff system is with computer generated rankings and all 12 spots being 'at large'. Conference championships can be considered as one of the top parameters, but shouldn't be automatic. All it takes is a Colorado or some ACC school winning a title game and getting in over a better team.

Better yet, go back to the 2-team BCS, when a 10-2 top 10 finish wasn't considered a 'failure'.

Agreed. In my opinion, there should be zero human involvement in selection. Determine a formula that is fair and makes sense, then let it generate who is in and who is out. Man is inherently flawed and biased. As long as man has input into CFP selections, the formula will be flawed and biased.

Tennessee, as mentioned is in a precarious situation. One top 25 win, Bama, but with Bama playing lights out lately that is aging well. The Arkansas loss is aging like milk though. Such a bad, bad loss. Positives though are if Texas does lose to A&M they will also have 2 losses and zero top 25 wins (Michigan is no longer ranked) so I think you have to put Tennessee over them. It may also be worth mentioning that Bama still has Oklahoma and Auburn, two teams they should be heavily favored in but still not cupcakes. Also worth mentioning that Ole Miss plays Florida next week and Florida just beat LSU. A 3 loss Ole Miss definitely will not get in over a 2 loss Tennessee so for next weekend you guys are looking at the biggest Florida fan on the planet. Chomp chomp. Less likely but the egg bowl gets crazy sometimes so if Florida loses I am buying cow bells. Of course, there is no guarantee Tennessee beats Vandy in Nashville this year which would put us firmly in the Orange bowl.

There’s still plenty of viable paths. But we need help.

UF vs Ole Miss
Bama vs Oklahoma/Auburn
ND vs Army/USC
Georgia vs Georgia tech (not happening)
Ohio state beating the doors off Indiana (maybe the most likely)
You can add A&M losing at Auburn to the list of possibilities but they would then need to beat Texas the next week. That would give A&M three losses and put a second loss on Texas.

This is the bad, but I must have heard it 5-10 times yesterday.
It was how LSU could make the playoffs. Biggest bunch of BS
LSU could get to the CFP by getting to and winning the SEC Championship to get to the playoff.
Why even discuss it. But ESPN decided to run with that scenario. Why?

We have nobody to blame but ourselves.
Of everything I've read this a.m. this sums it up to a T. It's sad because it's true. We don't crap the bed against the pigs and we are in....barring a loss to Vandy ... which isn't out of the realm of possibilities. It's our fault. There's a lot of shared blame here. It is what it is. Personally...screw the playoffs if we can't put a better product on the field....it's just wasted hope.

If the committee votes Alabama in, then Tennessee should be in the playoff as well.
In the end we will have one win against a ranked team. The CFP will not deem that playoff worthy. As tough as the SEC is, going forward you cannot lose to any unranked team on your schedule like we did at Arkansas.
