Slow playing recruits

The offer to Nance came post-Kiffin, and he committed the next week. Dooley got both, not Kiffin.

absolutely, 100% wrong.

he was offered on January 5th. Kiffin left on January 12th.

"Coach [Ed] Orgeron came by the house today when me and Da' Rick Rogers had just finished playing ping pong and he offered me then," said Nash Nance.
"Coach Orgeron sat down and talked to us both and we both set official visits to Tennessee on January 22nd.

Orgeron is the one who laid the seed and got both to visit. The only question is whether DaRick would’ve come, because we had Milton, Ambles, Meline, Hunter (who was coming under either staff) and possibly Prater (who would’ve visited). But anything to suit your anti-Kiffin agenda, right?

What?? Not 7 days after Kiffin and Co. left, Nance said he was firm to Vandy and not taking any visits, so when did Orgeron get that to happen?? When he was at USC??

I think some of your frustration is due to that lack of news compared to the previous staffs. It is just the way it is with Dooley. Also, they are completely the opposite of that last coaching staff (that offered everyone) but sure pulled in some great recruits. Not saying that Dooley is not doing a good job of recruiting, he just has a different approach (probably similar to Saban's). He closed well last year with little time. So have faith, that he will get it done this year. Lot's of time left.
With that said, at this point it does seem quite slow now......

I can see logic in this. My only concern is that there were a few questionable offers extended at the end of the last class that I wonder if it was just out of necessity of the situation Dooley inherited. I was not thrilled about Sapp and I think the verdict is still out for Crump, although I see more potential there. Ultimatley my concern is that we dont find ourselves settling for lesser talent. I dont think it will be a problem, I think Dooley has the right game plan in set, but until he proves that he really is an elite recruiter, the verdict is still out. With that said, I do think that he will do more than fine recruiting, so long as he can find some wins on the field.

And before all the idiots come out and spew the garbage about Chris Johnson being a 2 star, spare me.

Dontavis Sapp’s HS film may be the worst I’ve seen at a skill position that Tennessee has ever accepted a commitment from.

How many commitments does Kiffin have at USC? He must have like 15 by now. wait let me check . . . . . . oh he only has ONE! He is such a horrible recruiter just like dooley. give me a break.

Commitments are different than what was being said from Rogers. James Stone was a Bama Lock, just like Rogers was an UGA lock, until Kiffin left.

So you're saying there was significantly more evidence to support Stone to Bama and Rogers to UGA than to support Chaz Green to Tennessee?

Yes. James would have never set foot at UT with Kiffin up there, and Da'Rick didn't like Kiffin either, and Da'Rick said as much.

The James thing seems to lack the FACTUAL EVIDENCEEEE!!!!!11111 you're so fond of and I'd like to see a link to the Da"Rick quote.

Just to break it down in super simple language: I love how we're allowed to suppose that guys that did sign with UT wouldn't have if Lane Kiffin had stayed. However, theorizing that guys that didn't sign would have with Lane is just ridiculous.

Link for Da'Rick....

Da’Rick Rogers: Derek Dooley, UT campus why he went with Vols | AJC College Sports Recruiting

As far as James goes, I got to meet a few people this past year, and James would have went to Bama because of his coaches dislike for Kiffin, IF Kiffin hadn't left. I can't promise you that's a fact. James' parents hated Kiffin too.

Didn't Sab also claim to know James Stone associates and state that UT was never out of it?

And Da'Rick never said he didn't like Kiffin, just that his interest increased when Dooley came to town. That might have had something to do with the Nance situation.

That's because they actually signed with UT, and they would have signed with another team if Kiffin were here. It's not that hard to rationalize really.

You have no freaking clue if we'd have gotten Rogers. If Rogers didn't like Kiffin, why the sudden spike in interest at the end of recruiting season? That happened before Kiffin left and continued into Dooley's reign.
