Uh, are you at all aware of Condredge Holloway's legacy in the SEC and at UT?
I was on campus in '71 and he faced a lot of crap, not for how he played, for simply being of a different race. It's an issue that's entwined in his career at UT.
It's to honor the Artful Dodger. You think that that is nonsense? Troll.
All the matters is if the players like the uniforms, and the recruits for that matter. None of what we think should go into it. If it helps our players and program I’m all for it.Uh, I'm completely aware, thank you, and certainly don't need a lecture from you, although you guys live to lecture. The race issue is shoved down our throats 24-7-365, and now even in threads about uniforms, of all things.
I am thrilled that the legacy of one of the all-time VFL's is being honored. I don't like the uniforms.
Wearing this(or similar to anyway) back in 04 vs UNLV was fun to see.Does bring back memories of one of my all-time favorite UT uniforms. I'd love to see it make a return as an alternate.

I don't lecture anymore, thanks. If you're aware then you should realize there's absolutely no way to separate Holloway's legacy from the racial issues of that time.Uh, I'm completely aware, thank you, and certainly don't need a lecture from you, although you guys live to lecture. Race is shoved into things way too often but pick your battles. Unfortunately, racial issues and Condredge Holloway's time at UT isn't a battle you're going to win.
I'm not a huge fan of the unis but the kids like them. I don't like the music they play in practice either. I don't like purple hair. I don't like pierced ears on men (though mine was in 1971) and a lot of that happens.
I'm just not touchy, usually, about it like you.
Agreed, man. We'd likely agree a lot about how race is used. This time it is essential to the story.I get what you're saying, and I'm not minimizing a single thing about Conredge's legacy. You and I probably are like thinking on most things.
But I was simply commenting on the grey uniforms, which have nothing to do with CH or what the players or recruits like or dislike, and you launched into the lecture on his legacy. Wouldn't it be more special if UT wore the actual uniforms from Holloway's time to honor him, like the ones worn as an alternate in 2004?
I'm sorry I even brought it up, I just never imagined a comment on a uniform choice would turn into this. Enjoy your Labor Day.

Condredge is around the program, around the building often I think, and they probably at least asked him about this Saturday and what he thought.
I bet he said "Wear the uniforms the kids like" if they asked his opinion. I imagine he appreciates the deserved triangle nod to that '71 uniform but I'm not a fan.
I like the Smokeys as a once in a while thing. I even liked the Blackout unis as a change up. I'm old. I'm partial to Orange britches and white jerseys with real grass stains at the end of the game but let the kids have fun. Just win.
Agree. Never been known for my fashion expertise so I'll leave that part of the discussion to all of you who are fasionistas. I do like it is a tribute uniform and certainly there couldn't be a finer person to start with than Condredge Holloway. We were in school at the same time and he has been a favorite quarterback (and baseball player) of mine for over 50 years. It's a tribute uniform. Condredge Holloway was a tremendous quarterback at Tennessee, no problem what so ever with paying him tribute with the uniform.
