So Legendary Coach Pat Summit was forced out...

all I can do is read the affidivat, and speculate..
I would also expect Pat to make the decison to retire, if not then at the second meetiing Hart could make his decision..

I haven't read the affidavit. I haven't tried to find where to read it.

But I do know that dealing with a person, let alone a legend such as Pat Summit, that has this disease is one of the most gut wrenching and heart breaking experiences a person will ever encounter.

The elephant in the room is Pat has a Alzheimers, so how do we know Pat accurately remembers the conversations and the way they took place?

That makes no sense - if he actually made that decision then he indeed has the best interest of the program in mind - anyone who watch Coach Summit "coach" last year knows that and is just in denial if they believe otherwise.

Sure it does. Coach Summitt understood the PR. Hart did not. She was watching out for the program by not rocking the boat.

I support Dave Hart in his decision (if true).

Guys, she can't get better, no matter how hard she tries. Trust me, I've seen it. He has to do what's right for not only for the program, but also her.

And as previously stated, a 2nd meeting happened and was established about the miscommunication.

I didn't see where it was cleared up in any way. Did I miss it?

My point was that Hart came in and all of a sudden twice as many women were outted over males. Also the NCAA requires a minimum of 1 female on the Athletic board, so they got rid of every woman on the board but one. Check the article in ESPNW. In Coach Summitt's affidavit she stated: "-- Pat Summitt said in an affidavit that she initially felt she was being forced to step down as the Lady Vols' basketball coach by Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart, who later told Summitt that she had misinterpreted his comments."
According to the Affidavit, Hart told Coach Summitt she woudl have to step down before the NCAA Tournament and then in a later meeting told her she had misunderstood. Pat Summitt initially felt forced out by Tennessee Lady Volunteers - ESPN

It's so much more complicated. For instance, there were men who worked on the women's side who were let go. Desiree Reed Francois worked on the men's side, basketball compliance. Apparently Jennings didn't think too highly of DRF and it sounds like Hart agreed because she is now gone. Should they have kept her because she was a woman and worked for the men's AD? What about Bud Ford, Jenning's counterpart on the men's side? He was certainly treated in the same Hartless manner as Jennings, he'd been there a long time and I'm sure he got some awards for his job over the years.

Hart walked into a crap situation...Cronan was leaving, Coach Summitt's health, football in the dumpster and who really knows what kind of financial mess Hamilton left him with.

If he did something wrong I'm sure we'll find out because both Ford and Jennings have filed suits and it doesn't appear UT wants to settle. Maybe he hasn't left people feeling warm and fuzzy, seems normal for a merger. JMO

Got to get rid of Hart. Got to. sorry. you can't ****ing force out a legend like that. GTFO hart. lost all respect.

Normally, I do not call for people's jobs, but after reading Pat's affidavit, it is clear that Hart must go. An AD must, if nothing else, have integrity and be forthright in dealing with the coaching staff. The Affidavit indicates otherwise.

Dave Hart and integrity don't even belong in the same sentence just ask the folks down in Tallahassee.

New to me, but maybe old news....

"Legendary women's basketball coach Pat Summitt claims in a sworn affidavit filed Wednesday in federal court that Tennessee athletics director Dave Hart told her in a March 14, 2012, meeting that she would step down after the season and he planned to name assistant Holly Warlick as head coach.

Summitt, 60, retired April 18, eight months after announcing she had been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

The affidavit was filed in support of a lawsuit against the school and Hart brought by former associate athletics director for media relations Debby Jennings, who alleges gender and age-based discrimination. Jennings, who had worked closely with Summitt since 1977, left Tennessee earlier this year at age 57.

In the lawsuit, Jennings claims Hart, citing "insubordination," gave her the choice of "retiring, resigning or being fired" May 15, exactly two months after she sent Hart an email in protest of his alleged decision to remove Summitt and make her "head coach emeritus."

Summitt's affidavit says Jennings was one of a handful of people she told about the meeting with Hart.

When the suit was filed last week, university spokeswoman Margie Nichols told the Knoxville News-Sentinel the allegation involving Summitt "is absolutely not true. It was Pat's idea to be head coach emeritus."

Summitt's affidavit contradicts that: "This was very surprising to me and very hurtful as that was a decision I would have liked to have made on my own at the end of the season after consulting with my family, doctors, colleagues, and friends and not to be told this by Mr. Hart. I felt this was wrong."

"Summitt later says Hart met with her again and indicated she misinterpreted what he said but that she didn't tell Jennings about that meeting.

In the affidavit, Summit also claims Hart told her in a Feb. 15 meeting that he wanted to place all of Tennessee's athletics teams under the same "power T" logo instead of the Lady Volunteers brand.

"I was angered when he came out in an interview with the media in May 2012 and denied that he ever intended to do away with the Lady Vol logo," the affidavit states.

Summitt had 1,098 wins and eight national titles in 38 seasons at Tennessee"
