So who do you hire?

It has never been Tennessee’s habit to go after top tier coaches. This won’t be any different.
We don’t have top tier people making the decisions. Think smaller.

Get out the checkbook and negotiating skills and call Becky Hammon !!!!!!!!!!!! Turn around program in 2 years !!
Under zero circumstances do I see this as any sort of a viable option, even if we “open up the checkbook,” but man— what if?? I’d take her as HC in half a heartbeat.

I think Fulmer has stretched the bugdet so far in Football and went out on that limb to make it work that he counting on the Football revenues to go alot higher in the next 2 - 4 years that willallow him to better the other sports by increasing pay for lower level sports .if they let Holly Go then I dont think the money is there to lure away a top tier coach and it will take some money to get a established coach to come into the "Summitt " and be compared to PAT forever ..alot of Coaches dont want that chore ... and it takes money to change their mind .. even though at one time Tenn was 1 of 2 or 3 schools who were on the pinnacle ... now there are 10 on that pinnacle and Tenn is not one of them .... so I think his hands are tied for a couple years .. unless he wants to hire a up and coming coach ....

I think we should hire a swimsuit model. If we are losing, at least we will have something nice to look at.

The good news is that whatever new coach that comes in doesn't have to maintain Pat's legacy. They just have to rebuild what Holly systematically destroyed over the past 8 years of her "leadership"

I'd be hard pressed to find a worst P5 coach. Is it possible to do less with as much as she was given? Unreal.

Joking aside... My daughter played B-ball through college. She was coached by a former LV on her AAU team. She was not LV material but got a scholarship to play. She is now 32 and in the business world. She went to several Pat Summitt LV basketball camps in which Holly was participating as a coach. When my daughter heard that UT had named Holly as Head Coach, she told me this was not a good selections. I was in the "Give her a chance" club. It is funny that she knew back then. I don't know how many former lady basketball players are on this site, but I would like to hear specifically from them as to who they think would be a good selection for coach.

We should hire Geno.

Bill Haslam will write a blank check.

Jimmy Haslam will sit there looking all dumb.

Nick Saban was not going to be Alabama's coach either. You make them tell you no multiple times. Money talks. If it doesn't work then you move on, but you have to try in my opinion.

I agree there is absolutely no harm and if a program wants a coach you do have to try. BUT Nick Saban & football is not a good comparison. Schools will be way more aggressive and willing to pull out endless amounts of money to get a football coach. Women's Basketball coach not so much. I certainly can see schools asking . Florida did ...I just don't s her taking the job. She isn't hurting financially (well that we know of. we know she has made a lot of money in her career) and from her interviews, her career choices and support of the league , players and coaches (if you have Pop on your side that's a huge plus the NBA) I can not see her walking away when her chances of changing the game and making history in a sport that will last forever is not that far away.

I really like Lisa Fortier at Gonzaga who has compiled a 196 and 43 record there including some big wins over the major schools like Stanford and Rutgers. She would probably be my first choice really a class coach with a brilliant ability to get the most out of players. Carolyn Kieger has done a great job at Marquette had a rough start there because of lack of talent but has recruited them into a top 15 team. I think these two would be within our pay range and I don't think there is a coach in the SEC with a better understanding of game planning and execution than Fortier. She gets some All Americans in here that can play I could see us winning some titles rather quickly with her at the helm.

These 2 are the most reasonable choices although I do like kelly jolly and feel she has grown as a coach since being let go from NC State.

I never thought about the Gonzaga coach she is a good choice. She is younger and can obviously game plan.. So is Princeton’s coach!

I also like the Kelly Jolly option because her teams play pretty we in conference and I also think she has grown since NC state.

But if you want a proven coach still under 50 Brenda Frese would probably be it. I think her competitiveness might bring her to the SEC to be in a better conference then the Big 10 AND her base salary is $550k (while Holly makes $690k) not too unreasonable to increase for a winning coach I wold presume. You could probably offer her $675k -$700k which would still put her in the mid range of SEC coaches.

The big draw to me would be that she recruited Westbrook and Davis so they have preexisting relationship with her and they were in their final schools.

Some of the 2020 recruits have both us and MD in their final schools. While she has had some great classes and could be at the top of the Big 10 would being at the top of the SEC be a bigger deal to her?

She does have twins that are younger are 11 years of age. But if you were going to move I would guess now is the time. I don’t know if the one son which had Leukemia has doctors up that he still has to visit so that would be part of a decision.

As good as they are MD averages 4,700 fans per game compared to close to 9,000 at UT. I live in VA and everybody I know says she has a nice personality and is personable.

Plus she put a whoopin’ on Dawn earlier this year in their own house so my pics would go

1. Brenda Frese
2. Courney Banghart
3. Kelly Jolly-Harper

All young enough to coach for years to come and have had successes
