Nick Saban was not going to be Alabama's coach either. You make them tell you no multiple times. Money talks. If it doesn't work then you move on, but you have to try in my opinion.

Notes: N.C. State fires women’s coach Harper after four seasons

Harper's first team went 20-14, made a surprise run to the ACC Tournament final and reached the NCAAs in 2010. The Wolfpack never reached 20 wins again, going 50-50 with a 16-32 mark in ACC play and two trips to the WNIT in the past three seasons.

How about a head coach with almost an 80% win rate. That has won championships and is the national under 16 head coach. Do you think that might be a good hire. Because all the names that are being thrown around won't come to a rebuild. They have all been through it and even if it is UT they aren't going through the effort now that they are established.

Doing a little twitter research, NC State got a new AD that fired basically every coach they had when she got there. And I’d imagine it’s a lot easier to get top talent here than at NC State. She’s tied for first place in her conference with mostly freshmen and sophomores.

Tennessee isn't a rebuild project, they have the talent to be a final four team with the current roster and incoming recruits. It's the perfect opportunity for a coach who can actually coach but is at a school that doesnt have funding or name recognition to get top kids. Recruiting gets a heck of a lot easier when you're selling Tennessee to kids instead of selling a mid major.

And the AD made an even better hire by going and getting Wes Moore. He should be on Tennessee's short list of coaches they contact.

This is sad if true. However, I would compare the LV coach-player situation to a parent offering a child a meal of chocolate cake and ice cream or offering a meal of baked chicken, broccoli and carrots. Which meal would he/she choose? Holly offered the players chocolate cake and ice cream. She offered them what they wanted as opposed to what they needed. I agree they chose unwisely, but carrying on with my analogy, the responsibility lies with the parent to give the child the food he/she needs to grow a healthy body, not what the child wants. Same with coaching. Offer and give the coaching that the player needs to develop their highest potential.

Football to womens basketball is 2 different animals. Even Bama had a hard time righting the ship once Stallings left but they finally did. Tennessee will too, actually we are with Coach Pruitt. I guess you just want to accept mediocre and stay with Holly because we couldn't possibly do better. Glad your not in control. GBO!

Reading is a lost skill. Who said anything about keeping holly? Just stating Lady Vols may not be as an attractive job as everyone thinks. Can they do better than holly? Not difficult at all, but may not be as big name as suggested. Get your act together.

Very well said! But these players have only been offered the cake and ice cream at every level they have played! The change over to healthier and better meals might not go over so well! But must be done even if some choose not to accept it!

She has moved beyond college ball and isn't about to change course to take any college HC position - any.

I don’t get it! Who cares about the “recruiting classes “!! There are tons of great ball players . A good coaxh can make a decent ball player great . Haven’t we proven that a poor coach has made the great recruits bad??!! We could recruit LeBron James Ana it wouldn’t matter w a bad coach !
