1. To belittle the recruiting effort is absurd. Recruiting is based on relationships. Although Dooley was able to secure Hunter & Rodgers in his first season, that is a rare thing in recruiting. CBJ was a little too late to the dance so to speak. Recruiting will work itself out in the wash when the Ws start piling up again. I applaud the man for what he was able to pull off with only a month to actually develop a relationship.

2. All of this talk about in state legacy VOLS is getting annoying. Yes, this may be the best crop of recruits in state in quite some time; at one time. I dont think all of them will pan out IMHO. Just because their fathers/cousins/brothers were good, doesnt mean they will be. I want the best talent at UT we can get, and should focus on the national scene while being happy with a few of the Legacy class of 14.

3. Coaching is what CBJ will ultimately be judged on. CJG made a business decision; pure and simple. I dont hate him for it. If there is more money and upward mobility involved; and his alma mater doesnt have the position open, I say move on. I appreciate what he did while he was here as a coach and a player. CBJ hand picked Azzanni for the RC position. We as fans do not know the "behind the scenes" issues that may have been there between CBJ/CJG. CBJ didnt appear to surprised, nor is there anything coming out, so this seems to be something expected from the administration. Maybe CJG didnt fit the philosophy for what was coming forward. I want to see this program turned around after years of futility. If a new staff without ties to the VOLS is the ones who turn it around, I am all in. About time we get new ideas/new blood around here.

Instead of bashing both CBJ and CJG, why dont we offer thanks to what CJG did while he was a VOL; offer support for what CBJ is trying to rebuild.

I believe Dobbs will turn out better than these 2 did for us. Jones put in work to get him to switch. It's too bad so many people have such crappy lives they have to take shots at guys that are doing pretty good.'

ever notice how these blogs start with the 'topic' however after a few hours were talking about rules of engagment etc.....

plenty of talent available for a rb's coach.....go get jerome bettis, marcus allen, terell davis, dave megget, blair thomas, christian okoye, ricky watters, tony dorsett, iron head hayward, thurman thomas, icky woods, jamal anderson (dirty vol?), priest holmes, roger craig......to just name a few guys that need work......

I knew i'd make u guys laugh with some of those names.....jamal could teach the dirty vol....:pepper:

I'm torn between Jamal and "dirty vol" and Terell Davis reproduction skills. I'd love to see the "dirty vol", but at the same time you have to think the way Davis puts out kids that we'd be set at the RB spot for like 10 plus years straight with all his boys playing for us...

I cant fault him for that. He was being paid to recruit for Auburn. That means if he is good at his job, he will do everything he can get by with doing in order to get Auburn the best recruits. If he were working for UT and using Auburn players to neg recruit against Auburn just about every one of us would think it was great.

I think we as fans take it far more personally than coaches do. To them its just business. Its just a job.

Some have said you can't have loyal coaches, that they will leave to better themselves and that Jones can't coach. All because Jay decided to go th fs. You might not know it but I even saw one say fire Azz and pay Jay more money. Jones offered $3ooK which was about all the cap would allow. Azz turned down 3, yes 3 SEC jobs since he came to Tennessee. I would consider that there is loyalty with the ones that are now at Tenn and that they are dedicated to wining. I believe Jones will hire a good coach that will do well at Tenn.

G. Jones also stated he had nothing bad to say about UT, but just told Wright he loved TT and UT. The situation got blown out of plourporation because people didn't know why TT told Wright to contact G. Jones unless he knew G. Jones would persuade him to go to AU. In reality, TT had a personal relationship with G. Jones and he wanted Wright to contact G. Jones so he could make the best decision for himself. G. Jones simply told Wright both schools were great, and that he had a great relationship with TT and that he thought TT was a great guy. He didn't recruit negatively against us. You don't back stab a friend/mentor to persuade someone to go to your al mater, and G. Jones stated he didn't persuade him to go to either school.

CBJ can't mess up this hire. It has to be a great recruiter and there is no better RB coach/recruiter out there than Trooper. And I thought I would never say bring him back but desperate times deserve desperate measures.

Does anyone know how much Trooper was making at Auburn because RB coach we hire will not make more then 250k

He was in the big east. I'm so tired of his tied for a conference championship being something. Did he win his conference? Yes, but by a technicality. Secondly, did he play in his conference BCS game? No. He may have a banner that says conference champion but he surely wasn't an actual conference champion. To act like he is a world beater is absurd because we really don't know anything to know that. Hell the one game he coached against a big team, he got popped hard by Florida.

very laughable for you to think these schools have more money. plus if it was all about money UT would have a fantastic staff right now cause we got haslam and thunder to just name a couple.
