Sooner fan really looking forward to the game

Here you go big boy. You are welcome. Thanks for playing.

FIFY Tenn doesn’t focus on the past because we are always 7-5. LMAO no wonder you guys so starved for us to join you at 7-5. No conference titles in the last 25 years. You remind me of Iowa State in the Big 12.
you aren't in Kansas anymore, SEC is more than a two team league, where getting lucky wins you a title every other year. when was your last SEC championship? Pretty sure ours was more recent.

see here in the SEC we are defined by the overall depth of our conference, where you play quality week in and week out. 7 of your 8 conference games you guys just had to remember which side the name on the jersey faced to be favored. Here in the SEC its easier to win a national title than it is the conference.

good luck to yall.

Fun Fact: the actor in this clip that plays the grunt from Oklahoma is Knoxville's own David Keith. He's Mike Keith's cousin and a HUGE Vol fan that was often seen on the sidelines during the Majors/Fulmer eras.

Apples to oranges. OU played in a mickey mouse league forever. Honestly, OU's legacy for most SEC fans starts this year. Nothing accomplished in the Big12 or prior impresses me. I do think you're poised to be the 3rd best addition to the league, and settle into the 10-12 range on average. If OU can convince SEC kids to go live in flyover country for a few years more power to them, but couldn't be me.
I disagree somewhat. When the big 12 was at its peak, Oklahoma. Nebraska, and sometimes Colorado were great. Won several national championships.

Well didn’t realize we were favored at home vs Tenn and on the road vs Auburn and Ole Miss. Gonna be a lot easier than I thought.

keep the faith. takes a little more than being favored to win games.

in particular I am going to watching to see how that game at Auburn goes. that one is going to very telling imo.

Well we beat Texas. They beat Alabama. I guess we’d be undefeated then.
We beat Bama AND Florida in the same season, then lost to South Carolina. You’re everyone’s Super Bowl every week and there are more teams capable of having a better day than you any given Saturday.

In all seriousness it will. Auburn is really one of the most intriguing teams this year in CF. LSU not far behind. Texas is an interesting watch. They lost their 2 NFL DT’s and their WR’s & TE. They’ve lost #1 & #3 RB for the year. Alabama (Saban less and losses in the portal) is as well. Michigan w/o Harbaugh and had 14 get drafted will be interesting.

Yeah -- believe it or not we've heard that from SEC folks before.

Why do you suppose that Mizzu and Texas A&M were mid-tier teams in the Big XII, and turned into mid-tier teams in the SEC? They had very little if any decline in production in the SEC. Why?
Lol. Calling them mid tier in the Big12 is funny considering they only consistently loss to who? The champs? Texas, ou, ok st?

They’ve actually been extremelyyy mediocre in the SEC except for a couple unicorn years. TAMU is a perpetual under performer in this league, especially given the plethora of Texas-based talent they’ve had on roster. They have only won 10 games in a season (including bowl games) once and it was their first year in the sec, a down year for the sec, going 11-2 with a heisman winner. Mizzou is also dog poopie, minus last year where Matt Baker at DC coached himself into double the pay opportunity in a lateral position move to LSU, and their first two years in the sec with the chase daniel led squad, again years I attest were down years in the sec. How they ultimately fared those two first seasons: seccg losses to Cam Newton, giving up 59 points, and another blowout lost to Bama to the tune of 42-13. Outside of those, they haven’t won more than 8 games in a season I don’t think and are more consistently a barely bowl eligible team.

You continue recycling the CURRENT line. Three weeks and five days before the game. Like a lifeline mantra. Reason for that? 😉
Well I can’t give the line the week of the game now can I? Obviously my point is Vegas seems to not be worried about the big bad wolf sec knocking on OU’s door. OU’s in a brick house.

I’m just responding to how tough the SEC is going to be and that I should be shaking in my boots. It’s not going to be easy but it’s not going to be overwhelming. OU has road wins over Ohio State, FSU,Tenn. Bama, ND the last time we played them. We be fine.

Do what you wish with your boots. Wins got tougher to achieve.

Now here’s the quintessential SEC talking point: tell us how you’ve done against our very best.

All time, we lead Bama. During the Saban years, we beat Bama once (won by 14) and lost to Bama once (lost by 12)

Against, Kirby Smart’s UGA, we lost once in double overtime.

No SEC fan wants to talk about how OU does against mid-tier SEC teams.

With the addition of OU and Texas, I don’t think we’ll see undefeated SEC teams in conference play.
I’ll talk about very best AND mid tier sec teams:

Since 2000:

Against Tenn 1-0: Y’all barely beat butch jones, in double overtime, with a much more talented team. Not saying much.

Against Auburn 1-0: Beat an 8-4 Auburn team in 2016 35-19. Never before then seen an 8-4 team in the sugar bowl. And they didn’t deserve to be there. They only were there because their losses were to #2 Clemson, #1 Bama, unranked UGA, and ranked tamu (would wind up unranked). Their best win was 18-13 over #18 LSU and a drubbing of inappropriately ranked Arkansas (would end up unranked). They did not beat another ranked team that season. Not saying much.

Against LSU 0-2: lost 21-14 in national title 03. Lost 63-28 in playoffs. Half time score was 49-14.

Against Bama 2-2: beat Bama while Bama was in a program drought, 27-17 in Norman in 02 and 20-13 in Bama in 03 (national title appearance year for OU - see LSU). Beat dejected (left out of Bcs title game at #3) Bama 45-31 (thank you) in 2013, and lost to Bama 45-34 in 2018 in playoffs.

Against florida 1-1: lost in title game 24-14 and beat a piss poor 8-4 uf team in shortened covid year 55-20 (thank you).

Not sure this high horse is one I’d ride on but you do you.

Here you go big boy. You are welcome. Thanks for playing.
I’ll take the Vols to cover. I’ll also be willing to bet OU average yard per rush and number of sacks allowed are under and over (respectively) the annual average while coach beatlebog has been there.

I’m certainly excited about a much better slate of games for OU. Certainly the home games as I go will be a huge upgrade. But I have to admit some schools and their chest bumping and SEC mantra are funny when they haven’t done crap. Bama and UGA are the SEC and everybody else normal.

If you don’t think the sec is more difficult I can’t help you.

In 2023 OU faced 3 teams in the top 50 talent composite-tx, tcu, and wv. Weat Virginia was ranked 50th, and all sec teams with the exception of Vandy had more talent than WV.

In 2024 OU will face 8 teams in the top 25 of the talent composite. Four of these games are on the road, and two of those opponents are coming off of a buy, and lsu gets vandy before. You get UT and Bama in norman.

I suggest running to the sports store and picking up a cup.

@B81, your argument doesn't match on-the-field results:

1) In the year you mentioned (2023), Big XII team Oklahoma State beat SEC Texas A&M (and Texas A&M should have won by your reasoning).
2) Likewise, Big XII Texas beat SEC Alabama even though big bad Bama also had a better blue chip ratio and was SEC elite.
3) Likewise Big XII BYU beat SEC Arkansas even though Arkansas had a large advantage in team talent (27% higher team talent composite score at 247sports).

In three out of four 2023 Big XII/SEC matchups, the Big XII won. In the fourth matchup, the same Mizzu that beat Tennessee by 29 beat Big XII 5th place Kansas State by 3 in Columbia, MO.

I think OU's 2024 schedule will be harder than its 2023 schedule -- but the increase in difficulty is no where near as much as SEC fanboys imagine.

I suggest taking advantage of those Vegas odds if you're certain Tennessee is going to beat OU by double digits in Norman.

You missed NCs by LSU, Auburn and Florida since your last one. 😏

Here's the accurate stats since 2000. OU's record is 8-6-1 with five of those games coming against the SEC champion:

Alabama 3-1-0 (.750)
Arkansas 1-0-0 (1.00)
Auburn 1-0-0 (1.00)
Florida 1-1-0 (1.00)
Georgia 0-1-0 (.000)
LSU 0-2-0 (.000)
Missouri 7-1-0 (.875)
Tennessee 2-0-0 (1.00)
Texas A&M 10-3-0 (.769)
