Sooner fan really looking forward to the game

@B81, do you really believe this?

The mid-tier SEC teams had an average of 2.9 draft picks. The mid-tier Big XII teams had 1.6 draft picks. Do you really think that an average of one player per game is going to intimidate anyone? Of course, Oklahoma has more blue chips than most (all?) of the mid-tier SEC. Saying Oklahoma is intimidated by Bama and UGA is silly when we're either winning or taking them to double overtime. Saying we're intimidated by the rest of the SEC is laughable.

And why in the world would Oklahoma be afraid to play an SEC team at their house? Do you realize that we've won the last time we played at Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, UCLA (Rose Bowl), and Nebraska. That doesn't guarantee a win against Auburn at Jordan Hare, but I certainly wouldn't bet against Oklahoma based on your feeling that we will be intimidated.
mid tier SEC schools are going to average 20k more fans than anything you played in in the Big 12. and you really need to stop bringing up one tough game.

to take your list how do you think Oklahoma does, on average, if they host Ohio State, play Alabama at their place, host Notre Dame, at UCLA, host Nebraska in back to back weeks in a single season with maybe 1 bye week in there? Think you are running that gauntlet every year? granted UCLA nor Nebraska are much to brag about.

its easier to win a national title than it is to win the SEC, try to down play or ignore it however you want but the facts are the facts. how does Oklahoma typically do in the playoffs? because you are in a 12 game playoff every year now.

I don’t believe it, it is true. The big 12 was last of the power 5.

2024 NFL Draft picks by conference

  • SEC -- 59
  • Pac-12 -- 43
  • Big Ten -- 42
  • ACC -- 41
  • Big 12 -- 31

I'm seeing Tennessee, UGa, Bama, Texas, and probably LSU ahead of you most years in the forseeable future. That's 5.

Tennessee and LSU are strong programs. We've had more success in the past but time will tell.

I'm surprised that you think Texas will consistently finish ahead of us. You do realize that we've won 4 of the last 5 games, and 7 of the last 10 games? We have 14 Big XII championships, Texas has 4. We own them in just about every aspect except money (Texas University owns massive oil reserves) and results from leather helmet days.

Tennessee was ranked number 1 in baseball for much of the season. I don't think anyone was surprised.
Very few picked TN to win it. I saw everyone making excuses why we wouldn’t:
“Tony can’t win in Omaha”
“The #1 seed curse”
“They play in a tiny park”
“They don’t have the pitching”
And on and on and on, constantly moving the goalposts. I spent a lot of time in prediction threads, no one took us seriously. I had an FSU fan tell me before our first matchup that he wasn’t worried about us at all because Arnold was gonna shut us down. The disrespect was real.

I think Texas will be a paper tiger after this season. Hell, they just might underperform this one lol. Their not exactly tearing it up on the recruiting trail and I think Sark is another Ryan Day.

I do believe OU will discover the hard way that the upper tier SEC is basically NFL Jr. And mid-tire is maybe arena football or CFL Jr. The remainder are more akin to ACC mid level teams. Any and all of them put each other into so much wear and tear, we mainly limp home. You have no idea. But Riker knows what it is like, oh yes, he sure does. So will OU eventually.

We were ranked #1 on 6 May (week 13) right after TAMU lost to LSU. Had two SEC series left to play.

No one on VN BF was really surprised were #1, while some didn't want that yoke since no #1 had won it all since 1999.

Predictions are predictions but I find some sites are better than others. Like I said you can take WN's OU prediction for fwiw

@LouderVol , what!? By what logic is it harder to win the SEC than the win the national title!?
by the logic of it happening three times in recent history. I don't know if its happened any other times ever, but three times in the SEC.

2012, Alabama didn't win the SEC, LSU did, but beat LSU for the national title
2017, Alabama lost to Georgia in the SEC championship game, but won the national title
2021, Georgia lost to Bama in the SEC title, but won the national title.

*for what its worth, non SEC Champs SEC teams have won as many national titles as any of the other conference's champs have in the playoff era, two. *

Usually the SEC Champion is the National Champion.

Unless the SEC Champion loses to another SEC team in the playoffs/title game.

The last Big XII conf. champion and National Champion was Texas in 2005.

OU will do fine in the SEC. The repeated success of consecutively winning the conference however will not happen. This league is to tough

that is a really big what if.

I would argue the Big 12 you had your mid tier teams simply because someone had to win the games. kinda like Iowa in the Big 10 west.
meanwhile in the SEC our mid and lower teams are often down there simply because someone had to lose the game.

and it also depends on what you are calling the mid tier? pairing it up based on several year average I would think the SEC is always going to be favored. granted the bottom 4 of yours or so would probably drop to our Bottom tier, and I think I would take anyone over Vandy. Arkansas and MSU (RIP) have struggled the last couple years but were typically solid, Ark beat Texas Sarks first year. Maybe there are some of those you could flip around and find more favorable match ups

Top Tier:
Bama > Texas
Georgia > Oklahoma

Mid Tier:
LSU > OSU?
Ole Miss >K state?
Auburn <TCU?
Tennessee >Iowa State?
Florida >Baylor?
TAMU >T. Tech
Missouri >WVU
Kentucky > Kansas

Lower Tier:
South Carolina
Mississippi State
Arkansas
Vandy
Let me help you out. OU is tier 1 alone
OU has beat Texas 11-4 the last 15. OU has won 14 Big 12 titles Texas 4.

You talk like our 2014-2015 teams were some loaded juggernaut. Your “worst team” versus our rebuilding program and we needed a limited HC to prevent blowing your team out in Knoxville. I know you have to run with your troll narrative but at least keep it honest. 😴
Stoops worst team of his nearly 20 seasons. We drilled you. You use the fact poor pitiful us when it was Stoops worst team. Give me a break. 🤪😛🤦‍♂️😂😱
